I am drowning in end of semester follow up!!

I have a group project that we have to present to the professor tomorrow and we have met a grand total of 0 times!! The project is setting up an accounting system for a company and the company we are using is the father in law's of the group leader. The group leader kept putting us off and putting us off. The first time we had really met to work on the project was last Thursday and I worked with him one on one for over 2 hours until I had to get to my next class. On Tuesday I saw a sample of the information we are supposed to submit from a previous semester and the binder is over and inch thick. The information the group leader wanted to hand in was a powerpoint presentation plus three pages. So today I took the day off from work. I worked on the project for over 3 hours last night and I have been working since 10am this morning.

Not to mention I have a test in the same class due tonight by like 11pm and I have yet to read the chapter :(

Then I have a homework in Geography due tomorrow that I haven't started on and three term papers that I have to write before end of day Friday.

Yes- procrastination thy name is Alee. This will teach me a lesson!

Oh gosh...I went to college as an adult part-time for 8 years to get my B.A. degree. It was so much work. Group projects are the most difficult to get done. I remember in one of my classes several students were confused about something, and the professor was intimidating, so no one would ask the question at hand. I raised my hand and asked. And the reply I got was, "Why aren't you at home wearing an apron?" The class was so surprised. I stood up and told him I would be meeting with my advisor regarding what just took place and walked out. Of course, my advisor calmed me down and asked me, "Are you going to let him take a chunk out of your future?" I stuck with it and eventually finished college in 1985 at age 33. Now, being a farmgirl, if I had been asked that question, I would have worn my apron to the next class session. Hang in there, it is a tremendous amount of work, but the rewards do come. I think you were correct in letting the professor know the situation you were in regarding that project. One tip that helped me was I made sure the department head knew who I was, what my goals were, and how excited I was to be there to gain knowledge. He knew my constraints, that I was willing to work hard and I also dropped by to see my department curriculum advisor at least one a month just to say hi...and let him know how things were going. It helped because I then ended up in several of their classes and they already had an understanding of who I was and what brought me to their course. Keep a going! I am so proud of you.

Hi Ladies!

Well the presentation went well- and I did inform the professor of the situation. I hated to do it, but at the Senior level, we can't be just expecting others to do our work for us. The professor and I are going to work on a project for his next semester so that hopefully less of the online group is confused about the requirements. I am going to drop by his office today.

I got the three term papers in, but nothing is graded yet. I probably won't know until I get my report card! That drives me nuts! But I just pray that I pass!

Today is my final Final. It is going to be a beast. So I am now going off for an almost six hour cram session before I have to tackle that one! Wish me good memorization skills!

Oh, Alee! I know what it's like to have a big project hanging over your head and then all crashing at once. I've got a project from last semester that had to be extended into this semester...not by my choice. The museum exhibit I'm supposed to be working on is based around a carriage that has been away at the restorer's shop since before I was assigned to the project. So, I've never even seen the thing! It's due to arrive the week before the exhibit is scheduled to open!

I try to remind myself, "this too shall pass." And so will you, and so will I...and when we have our degrees noone will ever ask what grade we got on a specific project.

Thanks Madelynene! You are such a sweet farmgirl! After this semester ends, we need to have tea and catch up! I am living in Billings again and would love to show you my new house! I think you will really like it-

Alee, I wish I could help. I know that you will succeed and get it all done. Wishing you all the best and way to go with school.

My daughter has also gone back to school this year and is trying to get into nursing school this fall. I know that it is not easy but one will enjoy the rewards later.

Again best of luck.

Thanks for the support ladies- I spent a total of 12 and a half hours on the project yesterday- We present today to the professor. After that- I am all done except for the final exam in that class.

Now I have the three term papers to do and am mostly done with my Tax Test. Then I think I have a buisess law final and I have my geology final.

I might actually survive to the weekend!

Deep breaths, Alee, deep breaths!! You'll get it all done, don't worry! Just take one thing at a time and before you know it, you'll be finished. My daughter is going through the same thing right now. This too shall pass! Hang in there!

Just take it one step at a time and you'll get through. I know a co-worker who is taking classes for nursing and I don't know how she does it. I don't know how you do it, Alee! But I know you can do it. I sometimes have dreams that I'm back in school and it's the end of the semester and I have nothing done--it's a crazy feeling but then I wake up. Just remember: inch by inch, life's a cinch; yard by yard, life is hard. Don't know who said that, but there's a lot of truth to it. Hang in there!

I can sympathize Alee, I've been going to school straight through since Jan 07, and praise be to God will graduate in 2.5 weeks with my Masters. Just please...get me through till Monday morning when I send in my independent study. I've been proofreading till I can't see anymore. It will end, now the fun part begins....paying the money back!
laurentany Posted - Apr 18 2012 : 5:59:49 PM
You can do it Alee- you've done it before and can do it again. One step at a time, and you will make progress. Breathe in and out, stay focused and enlist the help of Doug to take on whatever extra tasks he can around the house until this weekend.
Praying for ya!
Hugs,

~Laurie

Take a deep breath, know that you can do this, stay positive, and do what you have to do. I'll be praying for you. Keep us posted.
