A farmgirl shared this today on facebook-- this is BY FAR! the coolest corn ear I have ever seen! And heirloom corn is noted for it's beauty, but this blew them all out of the water!

"Seedsman Greg Schoen got this seed from Carl Barnes, a part-Cherokee man, now in his 80's, in Oklahoma. He was Greg's "corn-teacher". Greg was in the process of moving last year and wanted someone else to store and protect some of his seeds. He left samples of several corn varieties, including glass gem. I grew out a small handful this past summer just to see. The rest, as they say is history. I got so excited, I posted a picture on Facebook. We have never seen anything like this - Bill (Seeds Trust)

Or Moon and Stars Watermelon!

How wonderful is that corn? I planted mostly all organic and heirloom this year also. Looking forward to see how it grows.

That is super cool! Thanks for sharing the information and pictures with us. Like Alee said, I, too, would love to get some.

I wonder if they will start a waiting list for seeds! I would LOVE to plant some next year- I went to their website and they have some great seeds- even a chocolate brown bell pepper! How cool is that?!`

The picture of the corn has "gone viral" (you can follow the company that has it with the link at the top of the post). They do not currently have enough seeds to sell, but I'm sure it will get out there soon!

I am also dying to plan some--- I wonder what the dried kernals would look like! I bet they would be very suitable beads.

That has to be the coolest corn I have ever seen! (and I'm from Iowa. I know corn!) Do you know if seeds are available for sale?

I'm excited to start my garden of organic & heirloom veggies this year (beans & cucumbers for heirloom). I don't want to go too overboard my first time. That is really cool corn! I love it! Does it turn yellow when you cook it, do you know, or is it multi-colored after too? And those potatoes look amazing!
