I started to post this in the Swap section, but decided it would fit better here. I thought it might be fun to swap 7 random things about ourselves with each other. I saw this on a blog and thought it might be interesting.

Seven random things about me

5. When I hang up my clothes the hook of the hanger must go to the left when looking at the front of the garment.
6. I like cooking, but hate cleaning up.
7. I love Jesus.

Well, let's see....

1. I have 5 wonderful children, one son went to be with the Lord at age 7 due to an auto accident, so Heaven is a very special place for
me. One is a Marine pilot and the father of my two precious grandchildren, one is an optometrist, one is a doctor of audiology (my
only daughter), and my youngest son is a student at North Texas Univ. in vocal performance/opera.
1 and 1/2. I am a terrible speller!! I keep a dictionary close.
2. I am a retired first grade teacher and piano teacher..had to retire due to extreme crippling arthritis. I still miss the classroom
each and every day!!
3. I cannot remember ever not making things, as in crafting, etc...I love handmade, vintage, thrift stores, antiquing, cupcakes, Rudolph
the reindeer things, sewing, I cannot just sit, I have to be doing something. My mind works and constantly looks at things to see if
there is any way of altering items..I have to have a project of something going...
4. I do believe in being kind to everyone even if people are not kind to me...It is just easier to live like that and not hold grudges.
5. We have had a lot of tragedy in our lives, our son's death, an arsonist burned my husband's business down, never knew who, 6 of our
parents, grandparents, a very close aunt all died within a 5 year period, and 5 years ago my husband fell 60 feet onto concrete, spent
5 months in the hospital and now can walk!! Tragedy, yes, but blessings abundant!!
6. Love diet coke, trying to drink more water, love breakfast for supper.
7. Love my southern heritage even though I get so teased about my southern accent..Love the sense of roots and the timelessness of being
born and living my 58 years in the same place... love the shadows in the woods where we live and the "katydids" singing in the oak
trees late in the evenings. Music to my ears...
8. Thankful to know how to love and be loved. Smiles...........

You can never be to kind!

I got really sick after having 2 strokes at 18. No one could figure out what was going on. I was put on about 20 different medications and my health still continued to bottom out. They thought it could be lupus because I was throwing very low positive lupus tests. I had a 3rd stroke at 21. They tested me for everything under the sun and put me on a new medication for lupus. That medication caused me to have a severe allergic reaction that landed me in the ICU burn unit with my skin falling off. :( I had juuuuust met my future husband. He started researching (he works in health care) alongside my hematologist and came up with a new diet (whole foods. I lived on junk.) and some herbal supplements. Turns out I have a very minor blood disorder that can be a big deal when you don't take care of yourself. I went on to have 2 babies, thus far, and I have a rather normal life.

Farmgirl friends, I don't want y'all to think I was a mean kid. I was brought up to respect my elders. I still do. However, after the first hit with the ruler, for missing a note on the piano, I mentioned it to my Dad. He called the piano teacher and had a chat with her. About two weeks later, I mentioned that she continued to hit me over the knuckles with the ruler. My Dad said ask her to please stop. I did. She didn't. Long story short, I wasn't the only one she was hitting. The school soon got another piano teacher. She was sent from Heaven. Because of her, I have degrees in music.
