The last you heard from me I was on my way to Kauai, Hawaii for 13 weeks. Didn't quite work out that way. Although, the hospital hired me to do a rotating shift in psych. they planned my schedule for 11p-7am on long term care and working 7 days in a row every other week. I am 60 yrs old and NEVER work full-time nights. I think they counted on the fact that after spending so much in time, money, effort to get to Hawaii most people would say "OK"-suck it up and do the 13 weeks. I couldn't do those hours and I cancelled the contract. My company was again upset that this happened to me (and was not my fault) that I got to stay 10 days in Kauai for free.
Kauai is the most beautiful place I have ever been (yes, even better that the coast of OR). There are big, beautiful green mountains, including the Grand Canyon of the Pacific which is SO beautiful. There is a big rain forrest where Elvis sang the wedding song in "Blue Hawaii". There are beautiful, warm aquamarine waters with big waves and little lagoons where toddlers could swim. The road around the island is only 1 way in each dirrection and the top speed limit is 50mph. We drove everywhere we could drive on the island. There are also chickens and roosters and baby chicks just wandering wherever they want. They made me laugh.
We took a 12 hour tour of Oahu. We saw the USS Arizona (very moving), honolulu and the old Royal Palace, people surfing in 8ft waves on the Pipeline. We toured a coffee plantation and a macadamia nut farm.
The whole experience was so amazing. I'm SO glad we were there. I enjoyed every minute except for the 4 hours I spent in hospital orientation before we cancelled the contract. We flew home on Sunday. So now I am back in Florida for 5 days, unemployed but so happy. Somewhere on this trip I got my "old self" back. I am still greiving my Dads death in Jan. but it is appropriate grief. I do not feel "hyper-responsible" for everything anymore. I am so stable and so good. Well, I've never been anywhere to get jetlag before and the 6 hours we "lost" on the way home are kicking my butt. I had no idea how hard it would be to adjust.
I counted and over the past 95 days Rod and I have been in 18 states. (no wonder I'm tired.) We have been so blessed and I got to do all this with my DH. It doesn't get better than this. So today, I sent resumes to 2 jobs here in Florida and asked my travel company to send my paperwork to a job in Mass. (near my BFF) and Denver, CO. (never been there.) I need to go to work sooner rather than later and I remember when we first moved to Florida it took 2 months for anyone to even call about my resumes. My travel jobs will start sooner and they provide my housing. Who knows where God will lead us next but I'm ready. I'll keep you posted. Joey

Lucky you Kris, it is so beautiful there. Thanks, CJ. After sleeping on it I decided not to put in for CO. Much as I would love it and hear it is absolutely beautiful there, I'm a little tired of sightseeing just now. Have put in for Mass. which is near my BFF (77 miles) and 350 miles from my brother in Maine. I hope I get something soon. I'll keep you posted. Joey

Joey,
What an adventure you've been on over these months . . . I pray for clear direction!
If you DO get to Denver, let me know. I'm 400 miles clear across the state, BUT I do visit Denver occasionally!
GOD BLESS YOU!
