Posted - Jul 29 2012 : 9:25:43 PM Who else but hubby and I, get caught up in a high speed pursuit?? Yep, we did, today! We backed out into a street and heard a police siren going hell for leather. I looked around and saw a car bearing down on us and a cruiser right behind, lights and siren going. The car swerved around us, then the police car. The female driver of the car went down to the stop sign, ran it and barely missed T-boning a pickup. She went on across and then through another stop sign...then into a dead end street. We followed to the dead-end street but thought we better not go any farther. Just wouldn't be a good day to get in the way of the cop or have the girl shoot at us or something. Still, gave us something to talk about...

Posted - Jul 30 2012 : 09:08:17 AM When she went down the dead end street, we turned off and then turned back, sort of the way she was headed, only moved over about 3-4 blocks. We looked and looked but couldn't see anything. Then, a few blocks down, another police vehicle, with lights and siren going, came barreling down the street, going somewhere. Never did see where that one went either. I've been looking in the paper to see what the outcome was.
I don't know why people run, especially when they are in an older, run-down vehicle, and think they can outrun a shiny police cruiser, loaded with weapons and a no-nonsense driver!! You know you're gonna get caught, eventually, so might as well cut to the chase and save all the running of stop signs and endangering the public. Just give up, go to jail and call it a day!!
Actually, I did have a little bit of nightmare last nite. Just thinking what WOULD have happened if she had hit us...that did register a bit too much.

Posted - Jul 30 2012 : 05:24:00 AM Oh my goodness! What a narrow escape you had. Thank God she did not injure someone while driving that car. I have seen so many bad endings to those chases. In So. California where I used to live we had so many. The news helicopter used to follow the chase and get closeups when it ended. Finally they learned to keep a camera distance when one fellow ended up shooting himself.
I am so glad that you all were okay.
