I am so mad at myself. I spent an hour earlier today wrapping some new soap to take to market today. Put it in a basket. Then started loading the car to go. About half way there I realized I did not put that soap in the car. Couldn't remember what I did with it, but it wasn't in the car when I got to market. I had my other soap and this was just extra.
So I had several produce deliveries to make after market and the sky was getting darker towards home. But not anywhere I was going. It had rained on the way home and everything was really wet. Like monsoon wet.
When I got home in the driveway, I saw the basket on the chair under the apple tree. All WET! Every bar of soap I had wrapped up was sopping wet.
I brought them all inside and took the paper wrap off and laid them all on little racks to dry.
But my question is, will this soap ever dry out and be hard again like it was before going swimming outside? Or should I just use it for us now? I could just kick my forgetful self right now.

Kris,
I had the same thing happen to a batch of my soap. When I let it dry some of it looked kinda weird. So I sprayed it off in the sink until it looked kinda even all over and dried it again. It was fine and actually had smoother edges. I don't think the quality was hurt at all. Hope it works out for ya.

They are harder this morning so I think they'll be ok. I could also have just remelted them and made more soap that way. Or liquid hand soap. Forgot about that. I need some more anyway.
Yes, I guess it is old age and busyness. I have to write everything down or it's out the window fast.
Marly, if you want some soap, I sell it for $4.00 a bar or 3 for $10. Plus shipping. I could put some on Etsy I guess. I haven't sold anything there yet. I might put some on the Markeplace section here. Didn't think about that either.

Kris, you asked "what is wrong with us"? Sorry to say you're just getting older like the rest of us. That plus you are always a busy, busy gal so you've also got too much on your mind. If those bars don't seem right could you cut them up smaller and sell them as "samples"? Or you could always use them on the swap/barter section of the forum.

No, Kris, I put them in the trash. They were smelling pretty bad.
I checked out your FatGoatsRecycledJars.etsy.com site. Cool. You should sell your goat soap there, too. Let me know if you do.

It got pretty wet out there. And it is pretty soft now. I'll just keep it on the racks and see what happens. I may just have to sell it at a discount.
Marly, did you try peeling the eggs? You might have hard baked eggs! And I have done that too. What is wrong with us?
Lisa, I have talked to Linda several times and she has mentioned the dryness then the rains. We had a drought here now we are getting rain again. The beans are getting their second wind and making more. I took a lot to market today. And brought a little bit of the Kentucky Wonder beans home to cook. I hope you can plant a fall garden and have better luck.
Alee, I was afraid of that. I'll just see what happens.

Kris- it should dry out just fine, but watch to make sure it doesn't get a white film on it or change shape which could change the quality of the soap for the consumer.

Don't kick yourself, Kris. Soap is soap. I don't know the answer to your question, but... the soap will get wet when you use it. Is that goat soap? I love that stuff.
I went grocery shopping two days ago, and this morning I wanted to cook eggs for breakfast. Guess where I left the eggs? Yep, in the back seat of my car, which is parked out in the hot, hot, hot sun.

So good to see you back, & I am no soap genius....but, isn't soap designed to ....get wet??
Let it dry, it seems like it should be fine..
