Last Friday was my DH's last day in the Air Force. His actual retirement date is October 1st but he had a lot of leave time to use up. Big changes in store for us. His retirement pay is half of his regular pay so he will be driving a flat bed semi for TMC Trucking Company. He is currently in Iowa attending a refresher course for truck drivers. He will be home this Friday but leaves again on Sunday with a trainer for five weeks. We have been working hard at paying off all of our debt so we can buy our little hobby farm. In the meantime I will keep "farming" our double lot in the city. I am very proud of his service to our country. He did 18 years in the Army and 10 years in the Air Force. He is a veteran of the First Gulf War and Iraq. The Air Force Unit has a retirement ceremony and party planned for September 8th.

God Bless You Both for your service to our Country.. We need more people in America like our service men and women who dedicate so much for so many.
Our family has been a military family. My grandfather (or was that great??) served in his country in Europe. My father in WWII. I am a Vietnam era Vet. My son served in the Marines, and My other son served in the Army Reserves and was sent to Afghanistan. He reinlisted in the RA upon return.
My son and DIL have just had a new baby (boy) and already he is planning his Marine career. LOL.. like I said.
GOD BLESS ALL THE MEN AND WOMEN WHO GIVE SO MUCH... You all take care..And.. you'll enjoy some over the road time..

Kudos to your hubby and to you,,, being a military wife is no easy task,,, my daddy was career Army and I grew up on bases... He met & married my mom and brought us to the US when I was 3yrs old... I actually liked growing up an Army Brat.... and proud of it too! Just as i am sure you are proud to be a Military Wife.
Now go enjoy the 2nd half of a wonderful life.

Oh dear hen as a military wife I can't tell you how proud I am of your husband & for all did & represents to America. Please tell him how proud all of us hens are of him & thank him as well...mine has been in a bit over 23 yrs now...16 active, the rest reserves & he spent more time in the reserves in wars than he ever did while active.....Like said its not an easy life for family but its so wonderful to have people like your hubby serve...congrats to him & to his new job waiting for him...& thank you for being right next to him during the time he was a military man...xoxo...Michele'

Congrats! Please thank him for his service. I was 15 years active duty Air Force and then reserve and my husband just got back from Iraq a few months ago. He has 23-years in service so far. It's not an easy life but so honorable. So proud of both of you!!

Please thank him for his service to our Country. Am married to a Marine...once a Marine, always a Marine. Same thing for the Airmen. Thanks to folks like him, we have the freedoms we have here at home. Blessing and prayers for you both for the future.

Thanks for the well wishes. Yes, he does look young, he will be 46 this October. He signed up and went to basic training when he was 17! Yes, I am older than him by about 5 1/2 years. I know it is hard to become a civilian again, that is why he is going to stay busy and work full-time. He used to drive a semi and really enjoyed it. He needs the direction...go from point A to point B. I am used to him being gone a lot so this will be about the same. He should be home on weekends. He doesn't like eating in restaurants so I will be making casseroles and such. He has a mini fridge/freezer and a trucker cook stove that holds mini loaf pan size meals perfectly. I might even hit the high road with him once in awhile! Apparently the trucking company he is working for goes to Columbia, SC quite a lot, that is were my DD lives!

Sometimes it takes time for them to get use to being back. My hubby left the Marines sometime before I met him and he still was trying to get use to it.
