Posting this here for a friend on FB. Her next door neighbor's 15 year old son has been missing for the last 8-10 hours. He was last seen wearing green khaki style shorts, no shoes, no money, no cell phone. The police are involved in the search. He seems to have had some issues with his parents (like most teen boys do) and perhaps he's just left to cool off and clear his head, but his parents are obviously very worried, especially since his a bit of a loner, has few friends and no where to go.
Here is his picture if anyone lives near the Racine area.

I thought the same thing, Emily--I can't imagine being the woman who hit him and I can't imagine being his parents, wondering if they'd just looked on "that" road. I think they probably gave him permission to be at this party, and knew he'd be gone all night long, so I don't even think they realized he was missing until friends (who were with him) called the house to ask if he'd made it home. That was well into the afternoon of the next day.
I'm glad this story has a better ending. Way too much sad news of late!

So glad he made it home safe and sound!
What a tragic story about your SIL's friends son! I can't even imagine. And the woman who hit him must feel terrible. Not her fault and she did what she thought was right being that she thought it was a deer. They all must be wondering if he had been found right away would he still be alive. What a terrible thing to have to live with. :(

It really is. Apparently, he's a bit of a loner and they've had some discipline problems the last few weeks so I think he just decided he needed some space (or he was going to teach his parents a lesson!). Regardless, I'm grateful that he's safe.
A few months ago, some friends of my sister in law had a similar experience, though it didn't turn out well. Their son went to some teen party at someone's home, and I guess he got really drunk or did some drugs, something. Anyway, he decided to "walk home" but got disoriented and ended up on a road in the wrong direction. He was missing for 3 days before they found his body over an embankment. He'd been hit by a car at about 4 am on this very wooded rural stretch of road. The woman who hit him didn't know she'd hit a kid, she thought it was a deer, and had actually called it in to the police as a possible deer struck as she was on her way to work at the hospital early shift. So, just really terrible all the way around.
Teens just rarely open up about much and boys, I think, seem to have it especially tough when they're "not popular" or invisible socially.

Those prayers worked! He's been found safe. Well, that is until his parents get a hold of him!!!
