Saddened to hear of Neil Armstrong's passing today at the age of 82.

I remember very clearly where I was when the Eagle landed-My grandmother's house in Michigan. We were there visiting from Maine-And, I remember racing outside with my brother and sister gazing up at at the night sky and wondering if we could catch a glimpse of the astronauts as they walked on the moon!

What a remarkable man...

the night he died, his family asked that you go and wink at the moon. When my daughter and I went out to wink.....there beside the moon was a rectangular shaped cloud leading up to the moon....looked like a staircase to heaven----it was amazing----never saw anything like it.

Yes, I remember Neil Armstrong walking on the moon. We watched it on a little black and white TV since someone had stolen our large color one. My brother had a telescope so we tried to see what was going on up there but it didn't work

It is sad to hear of such a grate mans passing but I am not sad for him. How can one be sad for a man who got to go beond the earth and see what very few people have ever seen for himself. How can you feel sad for a life well lived?

Aye, an Armstrong he was! As you can see I am an Armstrong but by marriage. On our first trip to Scotland we visited some places in "Armstrong Country" . . . the Armstrongs are a Border clan. One of the museums had a huge tribute display to Neil. The Scotland Armstrongs were proud of him!

Actually, he read from "Portrait of Lincoln"
Here is a snippet I found online.

He lived in Cincinnati, my hometown & about an hour from my current residence. He was a very private man, and declined interviews & accolades. I have heard his actual autograph is worth many dollars because he simply did not sign them. Such a quiet hero.
So you can imagine the delight, when hubs & I went to see the Mormon Tabernacle Choir about 4 yrs ago with the Cincinnati Pops, & Neil Armstrong did a reading! What a treat to get to see such an icon & not even realize he was to be in the program. His oration gave us chills.
So sorry to hear of his passing, but proud to be a Cincinnatian where he made his home, & honored to be able to have seen him in person.
