At auction today-I bid on a group of stoneware which included a hand "thrown" pitcher...It's about 7-1/2 inches tall, HEAVY-Gorgeous Cobalt Blue and gray pottery, but for the life of me I can't identify the makers mark- I've scoured the internet but its hard because I am unsure of the mark...

I think is reads B-A-U-E-Y-R?? Raueyr??-I'm stumped!

Any help in identifying the maker of this gorgeous pitcher would be greatly appreciated-It was sitting in a group of REDWING vases-but not much was said about the group of stoneware at all. I ended up with about 5 pieces in the group-Some salt glaze pottery and a French flow blue cafe au lait bowl (someone had painted over the chip on the inside-Grrrrr!) and some Faience from the 60's.

Talk to me ladies!

Oh...Is there anyway to get BARN odor out of stuff? We spent about 6 hours in an old barn and everything I bought smells really, really, earthy!!

Are you sure it is not just a potter and his signature? Someone that does that for a hobby? I have seen alot of those around lately.

I wonder if this could be Jeanne Berger. She is a potter and instructor at Colby College in Maine. This looks very similar to some of her work.
I would try to air your items out somewhere like a screened in porch or maybe a garage to get that smell out. Good luck!

I just sold a huge Bauer platter-last week. And, you're right Bauer pottery is from California. I think I still have a photo of the back of that. I'll check the signature...

It looks Bauer Pottery.
There is a Bauer Pottery place based out of Los Angeles I think.
Beautiful Pitcher.

Good Luck!

Can't help on the pitcher, but who would want to get rid of the smell of a barn? Just kidding!!
