Posted - Dec 07 2006 : 3:32:20 PM How often do you post I try to post 5 -7 times a week. My husband wants me to post more often. I think 5 to 7 is good. I think for most people that is a bit excessive. I tend to do most things in excess to one extent or another. Just curious what others think.

Posted - Feb 01 2007 : 1:50:45 PM I tend to post in spurts. Four or five at a time every week or so. I don't try to strive for the daily thing, because I don't want to just put up a bunch of fluff if I don't really have anything to say.

Just let my know if you need help with the HTML to get the photo to link to the set rather than the photo. It's not super tricky, but I had to play with it a bit.

Posted - Feb 01 2007 : 1:08:36 PM Another thing I just thought of.... If you have a Free Flickr account, you can put a link to a "SET" of pictures there, and show the things you make in one easy place. you can have up to three sets with a free account. I just upgraded to a pro account for 24.95 for a YEAR. Unlimited storage that way. I can also have as many sets as I want. Just a thought. If you want to see what I'm talking about, I did this with my photography. On the sidebar on my blog, there is a picture of me with my camera to my face. If you click on that picture, it takes you to the set I have at flickr with my photography pics in it. I can help you later with the HTML if you like this idea...

Posted - Feb 01 2007 : 08:09:52 AM It's great that you're getting repeat hits on a daily basis! I'd just tell you dh that if you're always posting during the day, you won't have time to actually do the things you're posting about. Posting, for me at least, is the easy part; it's getting the photos resized and shifted from camera to computer that takes me the longest (gee, which angle looks best of that bar of soap? Which sheep's eyeball can I see my reflection in?)

Posted - Feb 01 2007 : 05:09:01 AM I vote for a daily post, unless you just have excess energy and time to burn :) I think it's a fantastic idea. My blog is just personal and I only manage to update once or twice a week.

Posted - Jan 31 2007 : 11:18:45 PM I don't post items for sale on my blog. I post what I am currently making doing or repairing it is a normal blog to me. He just wants lots of the stuff I make on it so I can use it as a refferrance tool not a sale tool. I don't post every fifteen minutes. 1 or 2 times a day sometimes not at all if I have a sick kid. My family is first. I actually have people that read it several times in one day. I know this by there IP addresses.

Posted - Jan 31 2007 : 10:55:24 PM Sunshine, I think if you're setting up a blog for selling, it's different than just yakking like many of us do. So how often I post or someone else posts really has little relevance if we're not focusing on the same goal.
I post daily. I'm not selling anything from my blog, but certainly would like to see daily traffic to it. In order to get repeat business, I've got to have fresh posts daily (and hopefully they're entertaining enough to make you want to come back.) Those that visit daily will then perhaps take the time to follow the links to my other sites. So my yakking is a round about marketing tool...or at least I hope it will become one at some point in the future.
I'm curious, you've got several different site links on your sunshine blog; which one is your husband after you to be posting to? And what exactly is it you're marketing on the particular blog he's referring to? Is it listing only items you've got for sale? Or is it more an idea generator?
If you're using it as a store front, I'm not sure that multiple postings per day are the way to go for you...I mean, eventually all the older posts will be lost on page two, right? People aren't going to be checking in every fifteen minutes to see what new items you've posted. They're not going to take the time to scroll back through past posts (some may, but not most) to see what you posted a few days ago. I did see you're working on a business site and think that's the best option for sales.
If your blog is more a craft/idea generator that then links to a store front, I'd say a daily post would be just fine. Enough to keep people returning, but not such a quick turnover that they won't be able to read it all and keep up.
HTH!

Posted - Jan 31 2007 : 10:16:39 PM I blog pretty much everyday. You can have more than one blog with blogger on the same account. I think on the dashboard area, there is an "add a blog" link. Create a separate one for your business if you don't want family and things mixed in. Also, to drive more traffic to your blog, try joining a few blog rings. These are good ways to get traffic. I have several ring buttons on my blog that you can hit and sign up for. Good luck!

Posted - Dec 07 2006 : 6:01:43 PM Ive never read any hard and fast rules about this...that is the wonderful thing about blogging...it is what you make it. Im curious, why does your husband want you to blog more? He should get his own blog so then he can post whenever he wants, LOL! There are times I could post everyday, but then crazier seasons where I feel like I barely get one a week posted. Go with what feels comfortable...just my two cents.

Posted - Dec 07 2006 : 3:49:41 PM I am trying to start a business and he wants tons of stuff on the internet so people know all the types of things I make and do and repair. Even posting 5 to 7 times a week it will take me years to get it all out there. Probably sounds like a funny reason but that is it. This way if some asks I would like to see some of your work I can say go to the blog its all there. Instead of carrying my entire house with me a business card with store site and blog is easier. A visual resume with family and friends and other things in it sort of weird but the general idea he has. I do it because I want to and it is fun and it is fun to hear ( read) what people think. I also sort of consider it a sort of visual diary of what things I do. So if I die my kids know what mom made and that she had fun doing it.

Posted - Dec 07 2006 : 3:37:02 PM I post about every couple of days unless there's something really exciting to share. Why does your husband want you to post more often? I visited your blog yesterday and loved the tutorials! I would have left a comment, but Jackson needed me which cut my computer time. I'll visit again though!
