I just made an apron last night that is an experimental design. It's not perfect by any means...but it is pretty and functional and will hold up to alot of abuse!! It is a flatfront, not gathered. It was made with a thrifted king size pillow case and fabric and it has antique cotton lace trim. Like I said it is NOT perfect I was very tired and nodding at the machine while making it. I was taking care of a very sick child and sewing in between her needed me.

This will be a quicky sign up. I'll have the drawing tomorrow at noon.

Oh, if you would like to see the apron, it is on my blog. Just click the link below!

TINA MICHELLE from Panama City Florida!!!!!!!
(I've emailed you already!!)

Thank you all for signing up. I'll be having drawings for other prototype aprons in the future....don't know when, but it will happen when a pattern idea pops in my head!! *g*

Got your names in....when I get time, I'll write and photograph a tutorial. I just ripped another pillowcase. I liked this one so well, that I opened up another one and this one will be even easier to make because it has a finished edge on it....it is one of my favorite old pillowcases. This one is a standard size! When I ripped open the king I discovered something interesting about them...so now I will be searching for beautiful thrifted pillowcases!! I'll do the tutorial on my blog sometime in the next few days as I make the second pc apron! There is even a way to get a full apron out of a pillowcase. The one I used with the violets had paint spilled on it and some kind of dye, so I had to work around all of that. I think it is a wonderful way to repurpose thrifted pillowcases!

Tina Michelle Posted - Mar 07 2007 : 8:27:55 PM
you'll have to tell us how you made the apron Aunt George..it is really cute, and I'd love to repurpose old pillow cases like that.
I'll be starting a new job tomorrow in a gourmet type kitchen shop and I noticed that aprons are worn in the kitchen..so..I just might need to make myself a couple of pretties.:0)
So..if you don't mind..I'm sure some of us gals would like to see a "tutorial" of sorts on how to turn a pillow case into an apron...I know I'd like to.
that is..if you have time to post about that.thanks..~Tina
