With the help of a friend/farmer and local U of M extensions, our local Legion and the chamber of Commerce in Pine River, we have effectively started a farmers market! WOOOO HOOOOOO!

I am the market manager for our market, for this year at least. There were too many infantile politics going on in the market I use to attend, so we decided against it and thought to start one in Pine River, where there isn't one.

It is going to be the only Friday evening market in the whole area! We will be right on the highway, in the North bound lane where we can expect the tourists heading North to stop in.

I jsut wanted to share because it is something that has been in the works for a time. I have sick girls at the moment, they caught a bug or something, so I hae to put it off for about a week or so, but YAY!

We are even teaching a class through the community ed program regarding vending at a famrers market/growing a small market garden!

Congratulations Tasha - that is a fantastic achievement! Not being an actual farmer myself, I anxiously await the first weekend of May, which is when our local (literally blocks from my house!) opens for the season - it is one of my favorite parts of Saturday mornings here. Enjoy!

TASHA,
You sure have a lot of irons in the fire, and if I know you they are real ones.

This sounds like a wonderful venture. If I ever head to that area, I will be sure to make sure that we travel on Friday....
