Posted - Oct 20 2025 : 4:23:00 PM My husband has discovered his inner ,, Julia child,, Or Graham Kerr- the galloping gourmet…
Our Apple tree did crazy this year and we got an abundance of apples… Well, we gave a lot of the not pretty apples to our neighbors for their horses and livestock. We also gave the good apples to friends and neighbors as well. And we kept a lot for ourselves… Hubby has been excited since he has discovered he can make baked apples on his own without me, !!! and now he is making applesauce… Quite honestly it turned out very well. The funny thing is applesauce is so easy to make, and when you have as many apples as we do, it’s an easy recipe to make fresh applesauce that keeps in the refrigerator for three or four days and have a good healthy, sweet snack for our grandkids. Not to mention to have over our morning waffles. I used to have a dehydrator but it gave up the ghost several years ago and I have not replaced it… yet! I think I need one sooner than later,, as I still have a lit of apples on the tree and would love to make ‘apple leather’ (dried apples).
Maybe next year I will try my hand at apple cider..

Posted - Oct 21 2025 : 08:43:12 AM Wow, what a gift to have a good harvest of apples to can and use in various ways. You really can't outdo homemade apple recipes with store bought apples. Freshly picked apples from the tree will usually be more flavorful.

Posted - Oct 21 2025 : 04:15:57 AM Good for your husband! I think it is high time men explored cookery. My husband makes dinner, and even my dad, who never even lifted a dish towel when we were kids, is cooking for himself.
