Posted - Jan 12 2026 : 11:36:44 AM We have just a couple weeks left until our calf is due! We are all getting so excited! I am feeling a little nervous because this will be my first calf being born here and I hope everything goes smoothly. I have been checking on mom daily to watch for any changes. So far there hasn't been any!

Posted - Feb 09 2026 : 1:06:49 PM Alastor has been so much fun! He loves to run around and kick. Mama has been so good and patient with us. She has allowed each of us in the corral to pet him. Our steer is having a little bit of jealousy over the baby getting so much attention lol, but he is just one big teddy bear. I am very happy and grateful my family gets the opportunity to experience such wonderful things like this.

Posted - Feb 04 2026 : 12:12:17 PM Well this little stinker is really confusing us. We could have sworn she was in the early stages of labor but she tricked us. So now we are still waiting. The anticipation is killing me. It's starting to feel like the watched pot that never boils.

Posted - Jan 31 2026 : 8:46:37 PM So exciting Heather and Krista! New farm Babies! I thought fireflies were everywhere too .We have tons here on our 3 acres of woods. They are fun to watch after Dark. Connie Sue |

Posted - Jan 31 2026 : 11:04:17 AM I'd say she's getting close then! They really seem to "udder up" as we call it, right before the baby comes. It's not too late to still hope for a heifer. Usually 3 or 4 days can still be a girl :)

Posted - Jan 30 2026 : 3:01:53 PM Heather, I have never seen a lightning bug! I really want to though. We were told the same thing from the family about heifers and bull calves. It's looking like it may be a bull calf after all lol! She has had some good progression the last 2 days with her udder.
