I have heard some Cicadas a few weeks ago, but nothing lately. Maybe they will appear later. Right now we are in the middle of a huge heat wave that is well above normal so that might have something to do with their silence?

Is it awful I can't remember if our first week was hot or not? I've been struggling with headaches from these storms that we've been having. I don't know if I've ever heard katy-dids here. Cicadas have been making their noise this month.

I never heard of the katydid's predicting frost, but I think I remember something about the cicadas. They're really making quite a ruckus here right now.

Connie, that is so neat. I haven't heard of that either. I also haven't heard about the first week of August being hot. I know we have been hot so I wonder how our winter will turn out.

We definitely need cooler weather! It's been waaaaaaaaayyyyy too hot for our climate and we've had no rain for quite a while. We had a "snowless" winter this past winter which is how it was the winter before. We NEED snow during winter, piling up on our mountains.

Oh Judith me too!!! I cannot tolerate the heat anymore and I have MS-Fibromyalgia. and I'm old!! LOL!!

I think we're supposed to get some 85s next week. It will be a pleasure after the 100s we've been having. I'm looking forward to cooler nights. I have trouble sleeping in the heat.

Judith, it's the same here, we had a heat index of 110, 2 days later it was a high of 85, that evening it was cool breeze. Then 2 days later it was so hot! An evening thunderstorm popped up dumped 2 inches of rain which we needed!! Crazy!

I wish we had katydids so we would have some warning. We had a very hot first week of August but unfortunately there will be no snow, fog maybe.

That’s fun!!! I read the other day in the Almanac that if the first week of August was extremely hot, you would have a snowy winter. Fingers crossed:)
