Please keep my grandmother in your prayers. Her name is Barb and she is around 80 years old. She has had various health issues, but perks right back up and spends her time taking care of others.

Anyway, she said that two weeks ago she woke up in the middle of the night with pain in her hips that radiated down her legs. Over a period of days it has left that area and traveled to her spine and then her neck and it is now affecting her arms. She said she also feels very weak and ill and that the pain level is wearing her down. The doctors can't figure it out and have already done all sorts of test with no answers. She has kidney disease so this limits a lot of the pain meds she could be taking. She has an MRI tomorrow and sees the neurologist with results on Wed. Could you please pray for her pain and that the doctors will be able to figure out what is going on.

She is such an active and vivacious lady. She has always been a "go-getter" and up intil 5 years ago, wore ME out shopping. It just kills me to think of her so debilitated. I worry about cancer. She is a breast cancer survivor as well as her sister. Her sister was diagnosed with terminal cancer @ 6 mos. ago that is apparently caused by the breast cancer.

Thanks and Blessings,

Missy

I finally got a call from my Grandparents yesterday. She said they just got back from Branson where they have a time share. They go every fall. She said she wasn't sure she was up to it, but decided "what the heck, I'm goin". That's my Grandmother for ya! ha ha. She did say that she has no back pain right now. What a blessing that she has some relief from the pain. I could even hear in her voice that she is doing so much better. Thank you so much for all of your prayers!!!

Blessings,

Missy

Hi Ellen- I have actually left a couple of messages over the last week and a half and haven't heard back. I'm a little worried, but it could be that she is feeling better and they are doing a little traveling. They travel quite a bit. As soon as I hear something I will post an update. Thanks so much for remembering her in your prayers. It means so much!!!

Blessings,

Missy

Lucinda! Thank you so much for your prayers. I havent' talked to my grandmother in a couple of weeks. She said it would be that long for test results. I need to call and get an update and see how she is doing. I will keep your grandmother in my prayers as well.

I'm so glad you got your card. Glad you enjoyed it!! The paper was just regular scrapbook paper. I believe it was Anna Griffin. I love her stuff!!

Anyway, so good to hear from you.

Blessings,

Missy

Missy,

I want you to know that as I sit by my grandmother's side right now, I have been lifting up your grandmother and mine, as well as All Grandmothers, in Prayer and Thanksgiving. What a wonderful gift a grandmother is. Such treasure troves of love, understanding, wisdom, and courage they are!!!!

I hope your Grandmother is getting some good help and relief with her back.

Thanks so much for the wonderful mail art/birthday card I got last week. I showed it to Grandma too. She loved the wonderful fresh linen smell! Was that drawer liner paper???

Thanks so much for your prayers Holly. I'll be praying for your Dad as well. These types of health issues are never easy to deal with, but it makes it even worse when they have always been very active/pro-active people!

Blessings,

Missy

Definitely praying for your grandmother Missy!!
I know what you're going through. My dad has the same problem in four out of six of his neck vertebrae, and the doctors aren't going to be able to do much. I have never seen Dad so out of sorts, or depressed, and it's awful to see. He's a cop, and used to working more jobs on top of that, but now he can hardly handle anything. Sometimes praying is all you can do. Doctors can only go so far.

Thanks, I too hope that she will be able to manage the pain well. I just feel concerned about her being over medicated as she has kidney disease. Doctors can be a little pill happy. I worked for one that was that way. I guess I'm just feeling a little protective and it's hard being so far away.

Blessings,

Missy

Missy, That is good new about your grandmother not having cancer. I hope her doctors of her choice can help give her good care and relief. I will continue to hold her in my prayers. This condition sounds like what my mother has suffered from. She is 72. Pain management has always been top priority for her.

I talked to my Grandmother the other day and she had been to the neurologist. Apparently the MRI showed disc degeneration that is pressing on nerves. They have her tanked up on more meds and she said her pain is under control. I had tried to talk to her about seeing a chiropractor the last time I talked to her, but she said if it was just her spine, then she wouldn't feel so ill. She said that whatever the doctors tell her to do, then that's what she'll do. That's really scary to me and also very common for an 80yr. old to be very closed minded about any alternative medecine. I know from my experience working in doctors offices that all they will do is say "there's really nothing we can do" and fill her with steroids and pain meds. I'm just feeling a little frustrated about it. I am so thankful that it's not a cancer issue and something that is somewhat treatable form an MD standpoint. Thank you so much for all of your prayers and I told her that she had women all over the country praying for her. It meant a lot to her.

Blessings,

Missy

Thank you so much for your prayers. Your posts are wo sweet and brought me to tears. What a wonderful thing we have going that we can lift one another up in this way.

Meadowlark- Yes, it's the same grandmother that was on the card I sent to you. She and her sister are both amazing! Her sister is 10 years older. @ ten years ago they went to switzerland by themselves and everyone their called them the glitter sisters because of the little gold shoes they wore and all the jewelry. I have always said that I want to be just like them when I am that age. She has been a second mother to me.

I did forget to mention that she lives in Illinois. I wish I could give her that hug. It makes it even harder that I can't be there to help take care of things and comfort her.

Thanks again and Blessings,

Missy

Missy, I will certainly pray for your grandmother. Is this the same grandmother that you sent the beautiful picture of to me? What a gorgeous woman she is! She looks strong and firey too! I am sure she has a strong will. Sending you and your family prayers too, and asking that her pain subsides.
