Posted - Mar 22 2006 : 10:31:44 AM Oh, I can relate. My oldest will be 25 in May and my youngest is 14. I know they have to grow up, but how come it has to happen so fast? I really felt it last fall when my oldest grandson started kindergarden...for some reason it affected me more then anybody else.

Posted - Mar 22 2006 : 09:33:51 AM Patti...I know we are the same age if the 58 in your forum name is your birth year like mine...and my oldest is 28 now!! Yikes..don't see how that happened!! I do still have 3 nine year olds and an 11 year old at home..but sometimes that makes me feel younger, and sometimes OLDER!! I don't see my mom in the mirror much since I look like my dad's side much more...but my eyes with their sags and lines around them (smile lines at least) look like my dads did. When did the skin around my eyes get so loose??? And I KNOW I would need that potty break before the trampoline. I feel like I need one before anything!! haha Hang in there Patti !!!

Posted - Mar 22 2006 : 07:21:09 AM Men are dumb that way, my theory is that God made man out of muck, clay and slime. But Adam was bored and lonely so God made Eve from Adam. Hence he is more of a base nature and we are more emotionaly developed. Probably had to be that way so we could put up with them! Have some chocolate and look at pictures of them when they were little. I'm so glad mine are still little, I have boy (12), girl (3), girl (1.5), and ??? (being manufactured). The boy is getting older, sometimes he doesn't hug me back, sob. Now I need chocolate. |

Posted - Mar 22 2006 : 06:58:55 AM Oh ladies, you made me laugh, especially visualizing the potty break before the trampoline!
As for the day off, she's off school this Friday for teachers' meetings, so we're doing some special things then (I'm taking the day off). She had a Chemistry test today and didn't want to miss that. My ds is off at college (Spring Break was last week for him) and he set up something where she'll get 17 e-cards today -- one per hour for 17 hours. I thought that was a pretty neat idea, and it's nice to see them being more "friends" now that they're older.

Posted - Mar 22 2006 : 04:48:30 AM Julia, I will admit that I have to make a potty stop before jumping on the trampoline.
Betty Jo, I love it that you ride a dirt bike. I have a cousin (Phyllis, in her 40s) that took up dirt bikes last year. Y'all go girls!!!

Posted - Mar 21 2006 : 9:08:24 PM Patti, I totally understand!!! My oldest turned 25 in Febuary and my youngest turns 18 in May with two 22 years old and a 21 year old in the middle. I still feel 25 until I look in the mirror and see my mother looking back. I don't look in the mirror to often and I also stay as active as possiable. Bought my first road motorcycle last year. Just a baby bike as I call her but she's alot of fun going from here to there. And pretty snappy looking. I also took up dirt bike trail riding a few years ago with my youngest son and hubby. I love the look on the guys faces when we stop on the trails for lunch or sodas. Most of them do it on four wheels (ATVS), I do it on two with a antique dirt bike (1971 Kawasaki) that has to be kick started rather then push a button. Believe me I say a prayer every time I go to start her and she never lets me down. Chin up your only as old as you will let yourself be!
Pray for our troops to come home safe and soon. Enjoying the simple life :>) |

Posted - Mar 21 2006 : 7:45:56 PM cathrine, I am impressed that you can still jump on a trampoline. I mean, I can, It just makes me wet my pants! My youngest keeps reminding us how many days it is till she will be 15 and getting her permit. She is a fresheman and I am already having empty nest feelings. I know it will go quickly, more than I want it to. One of our seniors died yesterday in a car crash. today I am holding my girls all the tighter as we are reminded that life is swift and fleeting.

Posted - Mar 21 2006 : 6:04:18 PM That is so funny - as I creep up on 35 - does that mean that 40 is the new 20?!?!? Am I getting YOUNGER?!?!?!? I sometimes feel like it, but it's nice to have reassurance...
XOXO, Libbie

Posted - Mar 21 2006 : 4:32:35 PM Patti, If she's not on Spring Break, let her skip school and y'all go have a wonderful girlie day!!! Have fun and make one big memory out of it.
In my mind, I am still 25.....tall, skinny, tight muscles, no wrinkles and no gray hair. As long as I keep my eyes closed I'm okay.
But, I do have to say that I am still pretty active and play with my kids. Sometimes they're shocked when I jump on the trampoline or dive off a diving board. I want to still be active when I'm 90, too!
Bridge, you are so right. I have become every age that I perceived as old. I was 5 and turned 12, I was 12 and turned 25, I was 25 and ....well.....am not yet 40 (38) but I'll get there real soon. Now, 50 and 60 are just little spring chicken ages!
Blessings Catherine
