Posted - Apr 23 2006 : 9:56:15 PM I have never started a topic, so I hope I am doing this right. It is late, so my eyes are not completely focussed.
I have a favor to ask, it's a bit out of my comfort zone to ask, but after many, many months of reading and getting to know everyone through this forum, I know that it should be okay to ask. I can't do this by myself and would like to ask for your help through prayers for strength, presence of mind to think clearly, energy and patience.
"With God all things are possible." "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me."
Our son is getting married this June and I am throwing the shower for our sides of the family. (we're expecting somewhere around 70 people, 120 invited) It's turning out to be a "mini" reception since I am including the families and not just the women. It's been great fun planning it; I love doing these kinds of things and want it to be very special and just right. I've invited everyone because I like having our families together and it kind of makes it easier to mix and mingle at the wedding since the two sides don't get together very often.
It's going to be a rough week trying to get all the final details in order, make sure I have enough quantity of everything, have it organized enough for those who have offered to help to do so easily, go to work 1/2 days and watch our two-year-old grandsons the other half. I also have a PC cooking show on Thursday evening that's an hour away from home. I am taking Friday off, but will have the boys for part of that day before I leave to the farm to get ready for the shower there on Saturday. We are having it at the school in our small home town so my MIL will be able to attend. I live in St. Louis, an hour and a half away. My husband will be home this week on Tuesday evening, but will have to leave again at 4:15am the next morning for work. So he won't be here to help.
I'm not going to give you all the tiny details, I think it paints it's own picture, so if you have a moment to pass along a quick prayer, I would be most grateful. The super woman in me wants to think that it's a "piece of cake" and that it's "no big deal," but the real me knows better and it makes me nervous.
Please think of me when you can this week. Thank you so very much in advance for your kindness and prayers. (Not being rude, but I gotta go, my legs are twitching - it's late and I'm working 6-10am this week).
You all are terrific and I thank you for letting me bring this to you. God bless each and every one of you today and always.

Posted - Apr 24 2006 : 07:00:35 AM Thank you, Dar and Patti for your thoughts and prayers. Patti, that's so sweet of you to offer your assistance if you could, I completely understand. You are where you need to be for you and your family and the farm - which I am so excited for you and wish I could be helping you! I did have one thing answered already. My Pampered Chef show scheduled for Thursday had to be rescheduled, so that is a huge relief. God is good and prayer is very effective.
I'm sure it will turn out just fine no matter what happens, I just know me and know how I want it to be in my head, but know it will still be a mad dash and not the smooth organized vision I carry with me. Surely, I'm not the only one with these kinds of illusive thoughts, am I? :o}
Thanks again, ladies, I appreciate your support and encouragements. Seriously, I can feel your hugs. And I'm comforted that this is the place to get it. Blessings on your day.

Posted - Apr 24 2006 : 06:41:00 AM Lynda, you're definitely in my prayers. I wish I could offer to help, but with 3 days to finish moving I just can't. I'm so sorry. Hang in there and do what you can. I'm sure the shower will be gorgeous and lots of fun, even if every detail isn't perfect.

Posted - Apr 24 2006 : 05:41:52 AM Lynda, I noticed that you mentioned that you will have others helping, make sure you take advantage of that. Don't try and do it all yourself. Also, make sure you take some time to step back and 'enjoy' it.
Good luck and enjoy. |
