Well ladies, after 10 days my family reunion has ended. I had 20 people here at the farm for a week and 7 of them stayed a full 10 days. It was amazing!! I am the youngest of 5 and 4 of my 5 siblings' families were able to come including my folks as well as some friends my teen-age nephews brought along. We had a blast. I still have no idea how it all works out with that many people in one space for that long but it does. It helps that the farmhouse is big with plenty of room for everyone and that we have 10 acres to explore with all kinds of things to do that these folks never get to experience in their suburban lives. I am also so proud to report that with the exception of a pizza night the last night and a sushi night, everything we ate; breakfast, lunch and dinner was gathered here on the farm..everything.. hard to fathom at times. amazing. We ate vegetables like crazy, chickens, eggs and berries galore. It was incredible!
Needless to say I'm wiped! Yesterday morning my sister and her family left and I spent the day just wandering around....taking stock of the things that need to get done before we have another big gathering on Monday (just an evening gig). I was able to do a little laundry but that's about it..today I'm tackling mountains of laundry, and puttering around putting things away..
Another really cool thing was that the television was not on..the kids spent most of their time swimming in the pool, riding the Jane Deere, playing golf (we mowed a pasture and built a driving range!) worked in the gardens and so forth. It was lovely..really lovely...
That's what I've been up to this past few weeks..thanks for letting me share!

Julia -- what a wonderful reunion you had! Thanks for sharing it with us. It just sounds like so much fun. Having a house full of family is just the best. When I was young we didn't have 10 day reunions but every holiday was like that with about 30 people in attendance.

Howdy Ho Kate!! Hey, thanks for the email..will follow up with you soon!! I have only about 2 more loads left...I've done 14 loads already, all hung on the line..amazing..I find the whole process zen-like. This morning I was able to harvest the rest of my onions and garlic..feels good. I want to clear that area of the garden so my strawberries can be moved over before the cool weather really hits. My strawberry patch is basically one big sea of strawberry plants..the rows have vanished..time to thin and transplant for sure. I wanted to do some serious picking this morning too but wasn't early enough..the yellow jackets are just too fierce when it gets hot..so later on today I'll tackle that..Kate thanks for the positive strokes..by the end of the day I remember that I'm 6 months pregnant, let me tell you.. I just nibble at a lot of different things throughout the day and by the end of the week there have been some major accomplishments..nice flow...
Here's celebrating August and the bounties of fresh food!

What really amazes me is that all of the food came from your farm....How cool is that?

Brenda my "Jane Deere" is what I affectionately call my John Deere tractor.. She is a little beauty and was a gift from my husband when I turned 40 last November! The fact that she's little and cute and the fact that I am the Goddess who uses it the most, I had to change the name from John to Jane!

JULIA,
WOW that was a BIG event, and for that many days!! I want to lay down thinking about it. BUT family and friends are IT, and thats a fact. So all the good times will be remembered, not the mess or how tired you are. I'am tired for you.
