So, Ric has his official start date. Two very long years of worry for him are finally coming to a close. I just know he's going to love the job (it's his favorite kind of work to do), and his soon-to-be coworkers were all pulling for him to join the team. Heck, I remember the receptionist even saying she hoped she'd see us soon! I have such a good feeling about this!

(We won't discuss the fact that his mother tried to spoil it all by saying his "brain was diseased" and he should pass on the job because he is "too sick to work"....)

To celebrate, he is spoiling me already...remember I said I had more to report later? Well, he bought me an iPad so I would have a working computer of my own (it ships April 6th--I am trying not to count the days). Plus, on April 3rd we are going to Milwaukee to see Noel Gallagher in concert. We have been planning this for months, but as soon as he got the job he decided to make a mini-vacation out of it. He got a suite at a luxury hotel, and we are taking a limo to the concert. This farmgirl thinks it may all be a little too rich for my blood!

He's always said he would spoil me rotten once he got back on his feet; I'm actually not certain how I feel about that! I just want to see him happy again, you know?

So far, so good and he absolutely loves it! The only part that's an issue so far is transportation: we can't afford car insurance until sometime in April, so he's been taking the cab--which is expensive and makes him late. So, I get to figure out his bus route.

His mother has decided to dictate that we can't communicate while he's at work--which is fine by me. I was leaving him alone to focus on his work anyway! (Besides, it keeps him from interrupting MY work all the time....) He used to date a girl who was super-clingy and bothered him at work so much that she cost him a good job. I hate being painted with the same brush, especially since HE is the clingy one! Whatever, though.

Thank you girls so much for your prayers, love, and support. I really think he's finally landed in the right place!

So glad to hear that things are going well with the job and that your sweetie is getting to be himself again. As for his mother, I have to agree with everyone else, ignore her, even though I know it's hard to do. I can't begin to understand how any mother could treat her child that way.

Well, yesterday was all paperwork; it went well. Today he had to start his morning with a quiz, then the rest of the day is orientation. He's still there, so no idea how it's going!

How have you been?

So Alyce- how was his first day? I thought of you two all day, wondering how everything was going? Please keep me posted!

Thank you, everyone! He actually stood up to her on this one, so of course she backpedaled and said "Oh I didn't mean for you to quit, of course not...." Bah.

Yesterday was all paperwork, today is orientation. Poor boy has barely slept for two days! I actually had to help him pick out an outfit; the company is "business casual" (and does casual Fridays), and Ric's idea of casual is not wearing a tie with his suit.

I'm not being a smart aleck on that one, either.

It's so good to see him happy and laughing again. He's Ric again, not the shell he's been for the past couple of years. I've missed the real thing.

*ponders* He said the other day that he's often wished he had acted on his feelings for me earlier, or even that he'd reached out to me the umpteen times we crossed paths when we were younger. "My life would be so different now. We'd be successful, and I'd still have feeling on the left side of my face." (His accident was a direct result of the actions of someone he would never have met if he'd made different choices earlier.)

Well, I think he's learned from his regrets--and it sounds like things are off to a good new start!

My iPad shipped on Tuesday, about three weeks earlier than expected. It should arrive on the same day as my dental appointment next week, so at least I have *something* to look forward to!

Thanks so much, farmgirls, for all the love, support, and prayers! I know I haven't been here very long, but you all mean the world to me.

GOOD NEWS!!! YAY!! Enjoy your little mini-vacation . . sometimes those are the things that give us the "jump start" we need.
It's unfortunate that his mother isn't more encouraging . . I trust the two of you will just forge ahead.
Congratulations!

I'm so happy for you and Ric. Have a good time at the show! Just ignore 'her'. Maybe she'll get the hint.

Thank you, Phyllis and Marlee! *hugs you both* Sound advice, too; this is why I try to avoid that woman as much as possible.

What Phyllis said! That is so wonderful. And as for as his mother is concerned, you both need to ignore her. When he is back at work, she knows her nasty coments will be less effective. He will have more self asteem, confidence it will be great for himm.WHOOHOOOOOOOOOO! Praise God. --Marlee
