Posted - Mar 31 2012 : 4:18:28 PM So our little rooster is almost 6 months old now. Just when I thought we were starting to get a schedule of three naps a day he switched to four naps. His twice a night feeding turned into three for a night and I said no way the next night as he has a few times only ate once through the night of his own accord. Sometimes I think he wakes and is in the habit of eating but doesn't need it, but I also don't not want to feed him if he is hungry. Of course, hubby's answer to everything is he's hungry no mater when he last ate (try 30 minutes ago).
Someday he'll sleep through the night, right?

Posted - Apr 07 2012 : 12:30:23 PM I don't know about babies but there is something in rice that makes me hungry almost as soon as I'm done eating it. I think it's the high carb in it. I always need protein to balance it. Then I'm not hungry. I think some people are more sensitive to it than others. Just something to consider if you want. So tiring to get up at night, I feel for you Sweetie. Laura

Posted - Apr 07 2012 : 09:42:26 AM We were never able to breastfeed so he's been on formula and now eating 7 ounces at a meal. We've been giving him rice, but not constant enough at this point. Just trying to get him to learn to eat solids. We haven't had a doctor visit since month two, too many issues to go into now, but have one with a new pediatrician in a week. Hoping to finally discuss all this. May try giving him more rice at night.

Posted - Apr 07 2012 : 09:06:11 AM Does he maybe need some more substantial food. I find at 6 months that my children weren't satisfied with breast milk any more and cows milk takes longer to digest so maybe he needs food that takes a little longer to assimilate so his tummy is satisfied longer and he sleeps better. I am a big fan of goats milk but it also digests quicker. I don't know what diet he's been on so I couldn't really say much, just a guess that might help :) Maybe you need to consider increasing solid food. But as far as hubby's comments about constant feedings, is he the one doing it? He might have a different opinion if its him getting up at night, lol...just sayin. Breast feeding is the best but if its time to move on don't let anyone guilt you into continuing it if that's the case. Laura

Posted - Apr 04 2012 : 11:10:32 AM I remember that my ex and I had to drive around our small town after the birth of our first child. We would take turns holding and sleeping with her or driving and awake. Good thing gas was cheap then. The car was the only place she would sleep for over a month.

Posted - Apr 04 2012 : 07:43:29 AM after the past few not so good nights, we had a storm come in and that always messes with him, I'm ready for those three hours again. Up every hour or so most of the night. New mantra...this will pass, this will pass.

Posted - Apr 04 2012 : 05:32:45 AM Yep, that's what three hours of solid sleep feels like ... you only FEEL sick to your stomach, you aren't actually sick to stomach. As he grows and eats more, he will stay down longer. You won't even remember this part. Just the loving and that special smell of his skin. Marianne |

Posted - Apr 01 2012 : 07:16:51 AM Well, last night again the schedule changed. He only did three naps yesterday forgoing his last one so he was up for 3 1/2 hours before bed and then slept until nearly 2!!! I kept listening. So one feeding. He made a few I want my pacifer noises around 5 but settled and we got up after 7. Wow, so this is what 3 solid hours of sleep feels like.

Posted - Mar 31 2012 : 8:28:35 PM Ha ha...I had forgotten about that Laurie! It's funny...my oldest is 19 and I can't go to sleep until I hear her car pull into the driveway when she's home from work... |

Posted - Mar 31 2012 : 7:36:35 PM He will sleep through the night, and you will wake up in a panic as to why he hasnt woken up yet. I can still remember the night that happened with my son (my first born) and he is now almost 14 years old.... I remember waiting for the night to come and when it did I nearly gave myself a heart attack because he DIDNT wake up! LOL

Posted - Mar 31 2012 : 5:14:14 PM Hi Laurie, Yes, he WILL sleep through the night, I promise you! My little guy did the same thing (he's 6 now) and you do start to wonder if there will ever be sleep in your future again, but there will be!! Hang in there and just try to go with the flow-he'll find his schedule and you'll get some sleep...and then when he's older, you'll laugh at yourself for missing those "baby sleepless nights!" Good Luck! |
