Posted - May 26 2012 : 05:50:44 AM Hey ladies!
How do you all prioritze your to do list? In the cooler months, it's easy...I just work outside on the days that are pretty enough to do so. My husband tends to the guinea's we have, so i don't do much with them.
I'm 33 weeks pregnant with our 4th son. My 3 sons are 6, 4, and 2. They usually play outside and help while I work, so they are pretty easy, too.
The problem lies in what/where in the world do I start? My brain just seems to be on overload. I've been spring cleaning, but it seems that everytime I start a project another more important one comes up and I forget about or don't go back to the started project until much later. Usually, I can just do everything on my own and not have to wait for help, but lifing, pulling, and tugging are proving to be more difficult this summer (due to pregnancy). My husband will help whenever I ask, but he 1) works swing shift and 2) always is working on something when he's home, so I can't complete certain tasks until he has time to help me (read do it for me..lol) pull, tug, or lift...It just seems like nothing ever gets finished! I'm a results kinda girl, so it is difficult for me ask for help in the first place.
So, my question for you all is: Do you have certian days you work outside? Do you do chores on certain days inside? I've always been able to keep up with everything in the summer, but I'm just moving slower and realized that in some way I can benefit from this. I can learn a better way to be more organized and efficient.
Thanks y'all! Happy day!

Posted - May 26 2012 : 2:39:20 PM Thanks ladies! Already I have a plan! If I can do a priority list (my current lists are more like running lists....everything on the same one), cook for the week in one day...preferably on a day that I can't work outside (this will really help when I come home from the hospital, too!), work my garden in the mornings 1st thing (usually the heat of the day does not bother m beut this summer I have to quit when the heat sets in), and add a load or 2 of laundry a day!
The two older boys are really great about cleaning their own rooms and mostly they pick up after themselves, too.
I love tips, so thanks for sharing all of y'alls:)

Posted - May 26 2012 : 2:07:41 PM What is the most importent thing that you do, and takes full priority over all the rest is "Your Kids", when they are asleep, do what you couldn't due when they are awake, or if you are tired, sleep when they do, priority is meals (and they can be simple one pot meals), spend a day cooking and freezing main course meals, laundry is a never ending battle when you have kids, do a load aday so you don't get over whelmed, gardening is relaxing for me, so when I am stressed, I pull weeds, when I am dreamy, I plant flowers, when I work on my fruit trees and veggy gardens, I look at the big picture knowing that we will have plenty for us, and others if need be, now when it comes to housework, do what has to be done, bath, kitchen are priority, sweeping/vacuming isn't, make a game out of the kids picking up their toys/rooms, give each a cheap laundry basket to stow their toys in...

Posted - May 26 2012 : 07:26:55 AM Wow you are me 30 years ago, believe me I feel for you but you can do it! I am not saying you won't be tired all the time, but it is possible, I raised all our food and canned it and made everything my kids wore. I worked outside in early morning then did house work in the heat of the day. Its ok if everything isn't prefect I agree stick with one thing at a time until complete. When I look back on those days I am not sure how I did it I just know God will give you the strength. One good thing you have a husband that helps where he can, my ex-husband just stayed drunk all the time! I can tell it may not seem like it but this time in your life will be some of your greatest memories! Good luck, remember you are not superwoman and by the way my 4 kids now realize how hard our lives were at that time, but think I am a great mom so that's all that manners, we still spend as much time together as we can. Posted - May 26 2012 : 06:17:49 AM Hi Ashley, Congratulations on your new little one that will be here before you know it! I work at home so over the past few years, I've really learned how to work a list! I usually make a list for my at-home business stuff that needs to get done and a list of household stuff that needs to get done and I'll put a "*" next to the stuff on either list that HAS to get done. I try to finish whatever i start, so if I'm printing stuff for the business, I'll see it through to the end...etc. I'm also a one room at a time cleaner-for me it works better knowing each one is done before moving on to the next thing. I'd bet your 6 yo and even your 4 yo could help out with simple household/outside chores? They do love to help at that age esp. if you make it a game. It's easy to get distracted by all that needs to get done (been THERE!!), but just try to concentrate on working one thing at a time on your list and you'll be surprised at how much you'll get done!
Don't forget that your brain might be going a mile a minute, but at 33 weeks, you need plenty of rest and relaxation!! Take care of yourself because at the end of the day, everything gets done and whatever doesn't will just have to wait until tomorrow!!
Best of luck!! |
