Tibbitts is home after an overnight stay at the Vets. She looks sooo much better and actually walked through the great room into the kitchen and then back through the living room! We are very happy. She had a temp yet this morning at 102, but had a normal temp late today when we picked her up. The Vet has no clue what happened but wants to take another blood test at then end of the week to recheck her white cell count. As for now, we will take it easy, but I can already tell she is feeling much better!

Thank you girls for listening and sending me good thoughts---

I will be taking Tibbitts in to the Vet again tomorrow. She has not been the same since her disappearance last week. I am very concerned and have tried to prepare the kids for the inevitable. She has been a very special cat for us and the kids-DD who is 17 and DS who is 14. Tibbits has been their one and only cat for the better part of 7-years...she is an adopted shelter cat and was 4 years old when when we brought her home. The kids are devastated and I am a little surprised at myself as I have been weepy for most of the weekend. I have a tendency to project kind of a tough old gal persona, but I am having a hard time with this.

The Vet told my DH on Thursday that she had an abscess within her hind leg and that her temp was 104. He gave her a steroid shot and sent them home with an antibiotic.

I don't know girls, but I think she might have suffered a stroke as her hind quarters are dragging, she refuses the litter box and will only eat if I place her saucer under her chin-she won't budge from her pallet. It looks as if she is "winding" down so to speak, she isn't meowing and does not act as if she is in pain- but she just won't budge.

Thank you dear ladies-I just needed to talk about it.

How is Tibbetts doing? I've been out for a week and haven't read the threads. I hate to hear that any animal is not doing well. Prayers to Tibbetts.

Back from the Vet---He doesn't know what it is and is calling it an FUO (Fever of unknown origin). Tibbitts still has a temp only today it was 103.

He thinks it has something to do with the abscess in her leg as her white count is 26,900 and should be around 15,000 indicating an infection. Very tearful in the Vets office as my DD was there to hold her and she just couldn't stay during the exam it was too much for Hannah.

So...Tibbitts is spending the night and we will see what is going to happen tomorrow.

Thank you again dear farmgirl friends I appreciate your concern and thoughtfulness more than you realize.

I hope the behavior changes and physical changes are just because of the abcess. Hopefully the vet will be able to help her out. *hugs* My heart goes out to you! *hugs*

We have an old cat that is getting older every day. I hope your kitty gets better but if not maybe it is just time for her to make a space for someone new who needs you and your DD's. I know how hard it is we lost one of our kitty's a few years back. but by her leaving it made space for us to rescue two more who now live because she made space for them.

Our thoughts are with you.

Melody . . I, too, hope your Tibbitts gets better. It IS hard to lose a pet . . . some folks may say that is silly. But it isn't!!
No way!! No how!!! I watched my daughter grieve over the loss of her doggie . . . and then when my old buddy, Rockie-dog, was kidnapped I thought I would just come apart!!! That was the most bizarre situation and soooooooooooooooooooo hard!!! He was 14 yrs. old, had been my walking pal for all those years . . . that mystery has never been solved and that was over 6 years ago.

Anyway, I know how it is . . . and I pray for you and your family!!!

We had an old cat who had a tooth abcess and needed surgery and never seemed to recover from it. I wondered about the possibility of a stroke then too. I'm hoping that Tibbitts will get better, it is so hard to lose a long time family friend.
You know you are doing the best you can for her and have given her a loving home since her rescue.
