I am so excited!
Next week I am going to the animal shelter to become a volunteer there! I am soo excited! I have wanted to become one a long time and I finally get to become one this summer. I get to wash puppies, walk dogs, clean up after all the animals of course but I don't mind that, hold kitties, etc. YAY!!
Just wanted to share my good news!
Hugs,
Channah

Channah:
I have a great idea!!!!! Maybe you could call the animal shelter where you are going to volunteer, and ask if you can bring Ginger in. Animal shelters usually have a vet to check in with them. Maybe the vet could check Ginger out. Years ago when I got my cat Zoe at the animal shelter, they gave all her shots for free. Who ever had owned her before had her claws removed. So the Shelter was grateful for me taking her in. She'll always have to be an inside cat, which she has been for 19 years now. But, being you'll volunteer for the shelter, well... there you go. Hope Ginger is doing better.

Oh good for you. Just think, you might be the only person that these poor animals were ever loved by. I have thought about doing this myself and maybe I will. It takes a special person to do this. Good luck and let us know how many are going home with you. LOL

I'm not sure Kristin.
I took the class and it was really fun! I'm now a volunteer and can go in when ever I want. :)

Channah, I cried every time I worked at the shelter. There were so many animals brought in every day. We had big folders full of animal rescue people that would take certain kinds of dogs. So when one came in we'd get on the phone and go down the list til we could find someone to take it. I wonder if they still do that.

I know you will do great.

Good for you!
Every few months a group of people in my town get together and we hold a vegan bake sale to help out various animal charities in our area. I love organizing them and being able to help animals and meet new friends.

Channah, you are a good soul. I would bring every animal home with me. You really get to make a difference. Update us and let us know how you are doing there. Carol

Channah, that sounds like so much fun! Rescue animals are dear to my heart, as all my past dogs have been from the Humane Society, and I think that the puppy selling business has become disgusting. I hope you have a good time, and hopefully one of these days I'll have the time for volunteering at a shelter.

Thank you all so much!

Cindy, like everything in this world there is heartbreak and joy. I pray that while I'm there volunteering I can make a diffrence and maybe make our Animal shelter a better place. Its a good step in becoming a vets assistant. :)

thank you all again so much!
Hugs,
Channah

It's great that you're volunteering at a shelter--I'm sure you'll find it very rewarding but it can be heartbreaking as well. sometimes people in my town just dump their animals in front of the shelter and drive off. The animals will be very lucky to have someone like you take care of them--maybe you will talk people into giving them a forever home.

Channah, that's what I did when I lived in Los Angeles. I think I was about your age. I volunteered every weekend. And I called my dad every time about some dog or cat I HAD to have. He finally let me get a dog. He was the cutest fuzzy white dog. I named him Ziggy. He traveled across the country with me and my brother and sister when we moved back to Ga. He was the best dog.

I hope you have fun and I am sure you will be the best volunteer they have there.

Remember to clean-up really well before you touch your pets at home, you don't want to bring home any creeping crud and spread it to your fur babys.

That is so wonderful Channah. It is such an epidemic around here. People sitting out in from of walmart trying to sell their "designer puppies" read 'mixed breed' for $300 a dog when the shelters are bursting with them just a year later. I just fume when I see them. You are doing a wonderful thing, and it makes a difference to them, it really does.

What a wonderful thing to do Channah! I am in a resuce group and it is very rewarding. Only one thing...don't bring them all home with you!
