Posted - Jul 15 2010 : 10:26:55 AM I am kinda new to the whole farmin thing. This is my first time raisin chickens. I cracked an egg this morning and it appeared that the white was not white but blood. I couldn't do anything but throw it out. What is it? Is it okay or do I need to check my chickens? Am I just bein a weanie?

Posted - Jul 15 2010 : 1:33:51 PM It was all bloody lookin. I always crack my eggs into a wonderful black bowl my DH got for me so I can see if there are any shell bits there. I'm not very good at egg crackin! I have only found the one in about 12 dozen or so eggs, so I guess it isn't anything to worry about just yet. Thanks ladies!

Posted - Jul 15 2010 : 12:31:35 PM it happens, crack your eggs into a separete bowl before adding to anything else, so you don't end up throwing out an entire meal or bowl of ingrediants.

Posted - Jul 15 2010 : 10:39:35 AM Happens sometimes....I think when the chicken gets "knocked around" by her friends or something. As long as it doesn't happen very often I don't worry about it. I do throw out the egg though.
