Thank goodness my DH was helping, it was all I could do to hold the little guy's ears out of the way and head tight while DH used the disbudding iron. After we were finished and I put the blue wound medicine on him, he got it my arm and the side of his face. Now he looks like a little clown. We waited a bit too long(4 weeks old), but DH has been working overtime and asked me not to do it by myself. After this he says he doesn't care how late he gets home when they are 4 days old we are going to disbud them. By the way, this buckling is soldOne more reason to keep my membership up to date with the Nigerian Dwarf Goat Socitey, the lady called me, I did not have to advertise

I keep horns on my goats, but I have helped many a friend and neighbor to de-bud, and its not my favorite job, thats for sure. I am glad you got it done, without any major mis-hap...

I hate that job!!! I don't miss it one bit. I could never get anyone else to man the disbudder so I would have one grown son holding the goatling, and someone else holding the watch so I would be timed...it always seems like forever to hold it on there..ugh.
I bet you are glad it is over.

Katheryn, it's a wonder ya'll were able to disbud him at that age. We couldn't do one of mine because his were so big when we finally got to them. So if I do it again they will be just a few days old. I am glad he's going to a good home too.
