Posted - Aug 20 2010 : 06:00:12 AM as many of you know we have 4 wonderful goats on our little peice of land. the other day i asked my hubby to help me trim hooves-it is not something i can do by myself. it is not very hard to trim the little ones you just have to catch them first. but the big one that is a different story-he weighs easy between 150 and 180 pounds. so my hubby finally wrestles him up on this wooden bench that they all like to sit on. so i grab the trimmers and he decides that he doesn't want his hooves trimmed and he is not going to sit there and allow this to happen-so over and off the backside of the bench go my hubby and goat while i stand there and watch-not once but twice!!! i laughed so hard i couldn't have done anything if i wanted too. finally (now we are on the third time) he gets him up on there and the goat wants to go for it again-hubby says to him "noway i am still the alpha goat around here, just barely but i stil am!" wish i would have had a video camera!

Posted - Aug 20 2010 : 07:19:51 AM Oh, that is so funny, Mary Jo!!! Goats are so much fun though. I need to trim 24 hooves ( 6 goats) this week too.
Kristin, I almost did that with one of my goats but then I I stood there and thought, 'hmm, this could turn nasty if she decides to run'. lol We live, we learn. Hugs, Channah

Posted - Aug 20 2010 : 06:20:43 AM Mary Jo, that is so funny! We seem to always miss those golden opportunities, don't we? And tell him he's not the only one that's ever happened to. I was drug all over the yard by my ewe with a leash the first time I tried to shear her. I learned my leason fast. Never tie a leash or rope to myself when I have a loud tool in my hand near an animal again! I hope your hubby is no too sore today. Did ya'll ever get the big guys hooves trimmed after all that excitement?
