Hey Farmgirls,
Just thought I'd share this pic of our llama, "Rocky". He has a large pen with apple trees in it, some open area and his own "Sunflower Garden". Just a BIG patch of volunteer sunnies . . . all his own!!!
He is a funny fellow, very friendly and very curious!! A fun guy to have around!!!

Thanks for looking!
CJ

Hey Kris . . .he doesn't eat the sunflowers. He just enjoys them, I guess. I think he eats the apples that fall on the ground. There is a lot of other stuff that grows out there and he seems to be happy munching on whatever. And we toss garden throw-away stuff to him, such as beet tops, etc.

He seemss to be very content . . . I don't know really how old he is. We got him as an adult llama about 18 years ago. Oh my, it doesn't seem that long but it is!! The only thing that bothers him is a couple of the neighbors pesky dogs, but he kicks him. I would NOT want to get kicked by a llama. They have strong, very quick legs and very sharp hooves!!!

We enjoy him!!

He has to be content, apples, sunflowers and caring people.

CJ, that is so cute. A llama and his own garden. Does he eat the sunflowers at all? Or the apples?

Hey Debbie,
Llamas can and do spit . . . Rocky doesn't which is nice. I think he will when he is being harrassed by the neighbors dogs . . .and I hope that he kicks the living daylights outta them.
He is a vegan, eats all sorts of green and growing stuff, including some of the weeds in his pen. He doesn't really "talk" but he does give us what we call "butterfly kisses" and he is VERY, VERY CURIOUS. So when he sees any of us in the house window or outside he is right there checking us out.
Touching him is TOTALLY and STRICTLY on his terms though. But is not aggressive towards humans . . . our neighbors love him!! People use them for "guards" in their sheep flocks. They are supposed to be good at dealing with predators.
No problem with the questions.

Oh and does he talk to you? Sorry about all the questions, I've never seen a llama!
Thanks, Debbie

Hi CJ,
Rocky is very handsome! Do llamas spit like camels? And are they vegans?
