Hey Farm Girl Friends,
I am hoping someone by me has a little spot I could keep my horse Blaze he's a 14 year old horse that I can't live without and now that we our jobless I can't afford his 165.00 month board,I can afford his feed,shoeing and shots but not the high boarding cost I just can't loose him he is just the most wonderful guy and he loves kids and other animals so if anyone knows someone with a little spot at their place for him jsut for a little while I would really appreciate it more than you know. Sending you prayers and hugs Karyn. Checking with the horse rescue place sounds like a great idea. Another option is to check with therapeutic riding organizations. They often take in animals, usually donated. But they might be able to work out something with you. I have a friend who is very active in the therapeutic riding out here in Maryland and the results are amazing. The horses are well cared for and loved, and the disabled children positively glow when interacting with the horses.

Thanks Jennifer I appreciate it All you FARMGALS who have farms or ranches or just a plot of land to call your own your soooo lucky I wish I did or had someone who needed help on there's. Hate the City.

Hi Karyn,
I'm sorry to hear about your circumstances,I wish we were in the same state,I would sure put him up for you if I could but I'm in Colorado,I hope some of my suggestions might help you though.
I used to do volunteer training and farrier work for a local horse rescue and there were times that the lady who ran it would board horses free or cheap for people who really wanted to keep thier horse but found themselves in dire circumstances,it was usually just a short term thing but often it was enough to keep a horse from becoming homeless and ending up as a permanent resident of the shelter.
Perhaps you could try calling your local rescue and seeing if you can arrange something for your horse,see if they're willing to do temporary emergency board for you for free or low cost,maybe even a work exchange.
Another option might be to free lease your horse to someone else temporarily until you can get back on your feet,just be sure to have clear paperwork and ownership rights detailed.
I wish you luck,alot of horses and horse owners are finding themselves making hard choices in this economy,I hope you don't have to part with your horse,good luck to you!
