Posted - Mar 31 2013 : 11:30:20 AM I've been wanting a few chicks for a while now, but we've been adjusting to our first horse and pony-mule. I kept hinting that I wanted something soft and little for Easter. Negative. But then I heard some chirping in the basement last night and I just hoped I was getting my very first chickens(6). Thanks to my hubby, he's building a starter safe chicken coop right now. Hopefully they will be safe from cats and dogs! Plan on hearing from me often! Jan |

Posted - Apr 16 2013 : 6:33:05 PM Congratulations Janis! I just got 5 hens and 1 rooster on Sunday! The hens are layers. I love them!! I purchased them from someone I know. They are grown and laying. I love fresh eggs! I plan on getting an incubator and raising some of my own. I wish you well. Jen Mackey

Posted - Apr 12 2013 : 1:48:52 PM My daughter hatches chicks all the time. She hatches them in her incubator and then brings them to me to put in my brooder, then to one of 2 broodhouses and finally into the henhouse or to her henhouse. I have 1 batch of 6 teenager chicks about to move into the henhouse, two batches one in each broodhouse which are little chicken pens covered with thick opaque plastic sheeting. And 3 4 day old chicks in the brooder, 2 of which are bantams, so cute and tiny. 12 more easter egger eggs are in her incubator due to hatch tuesday. I also have a 2 week old goose that she hatched from an egg from my geese. It's just running around on the closed in heated porch. I had it with the second youngest batch of chicks but it was tearing up their feathers by preening them. It already has a home with a lady that owns a goat dairy. My daughter and I are going to trade 4 grown ducks and the baby goose for 5 doe kids from her next monday the 22nd. I'm so excited, but I will miss the little goose. Have fun with your new babies Kristina! Laura
