There are a couple of photos of Hedwig on my blog, from the post "Christmas Sheep AND Chickens!" (Being an Urban Farmgirl, I have NO idea what breed she may be!)

Ha ha, it was funny this afternoon. I took out the shopvac to vaccum up the bedding in her cage so that I could lay down some new stuff. I turned it on and was vaccuuming and she was clucking a little but not frnezied, then all of a sudden up she flew right through the open spot in the cage and she flew aroudn the dining room for a little bit while I cleaned the cage. Zoe was squeelinglike a banshee. I caught her and we pet her for a few minutes and then put her away. Now she will let us pet her after all that.

I put an post up on Freecycle for birds to befriend her, and I have a call to make yet this afternoon about some birds. I am also asking around at the local feed store....we'll get the old bird some friends here soon enough....

She looks like a barred Rock to me. A good heavy duty dual purpose breed. I love them.
