Laura....honestly I do not know what it's true purpose was. But it holds candles and nic nacs well now. Sorry not a good answer maybe someone else can chime in on what it was in its first life. That would be great.

Kelly do you know what that wooden thing on the right is. I have one and I have no idea what it is. My hubby thinks it may be something from a post office or something...lol.
