Posted - May 17 2007 : 06:04:15 AM Hello Everyone, My name is Sharon and I live in East Texas. My husband and I have a small house on 2 acres in the country, not really big enough to call a farm, but just perfect for us. We have 3 boys ages 26,25 and 19 (he Just moved out, we're finally alone....lets party!) I thought I would be so sad when he left, but I've really enjoyed myself, besides he's only 12 miles down the road. Anyway, my husband is a musician and a landscaper and I am a nurse, certified aromatherapist, and herbalist. I also make a line of bath and body, and housecleaning products I sell to local businesses. We have a few small vegetable beds, but extensive herb and flower beds. We also have a few "themed gardens" we have a hugh celtic garden complete with castle and life sized knights with red roses and geraniums highlighting it, we have a moon garden, or after 6 garden where all the chairs are white, and the flowers are white and silver(dusty miller)at the moment we are working on a hummingbird-butterflygarden incased inside a 3-sided pickett fence. Never in million years did i ever think I would live in the country, and love it(city born and bred) but I can't think of a better place to live. I look forward to learning and sharing information with everyone, this is a great website, thanks for letting me be a part of it. Sharon aka gardenfaerie

Posted - May 24 2007 : 06:36:51 AM Hi Heather... Hey I like that shirt! I want one of those for my DH! He's a "straight shooter", that's for sure...lol We live about 35 mi from Tyler. I've alway loved that area. When my children were small, we used to take them camping at a lake over there. I can't remember the name of it now...but it was wonderful. The kids still have great memories of those times. Kate~

Hi from Spokane!! THis is my first entry in this forum! I'm so happy to be here. I used to live in San Antonio, I sort of miss it. Homes cost less, there's more to do now than when I lived there and all my family and some friends are there. I'm in Spokane now because I work for the military. While I don't have a home of my own, my balcony was (and will be again) an aromatic display of herbs and things I can grow in pots. When I'm not gardening, I'm into needlework, cooking and dreaming of the days when I'll have a space of my own to do these things freely..... |

Posted - May 17 2007 : 09:17:49 AM Hi Sharon,
Sounds like we're neighbors! (almost) My parents lived in Gun Barrel City for 20 years... I still have friends in Mabank.
Your gardens sound lovely. Do you have moonflower vines in your moon garden? I tried to grow them once, but no success.
I know you'll love this site. I've gotten so much information already...and haven't read half the stuff on here. lol Hope to see you around... Kate~
