I have been reading posts for some time now and have finally decided to jump into the fun. I married my highschool sweetheart and we have four wonderful children, two boys 16 and 15 and two girls 9 and 6. We are currently living in an old victorian farmhouse owned by my family. I am a nontraditional college senior, majoring in early childhood education (age 3-grade 3). When I finish school we will start building our farm on nearby property that we own. Right now I garden and try to manage a small but growing menagerie of animals. Travel is another of my passions. In the past year I have been blessed to travel to Sanibel Island in Fl as well as Oregon and California just this month.
I feel at home when reading Mary Jane's books and can't wait to get started on this forum.

Hi Kimberly and welcome!

I love Tasha Tudor's books also. Do you have her cookbook? She has a meatloaf recipe in it that is really good and different.

Hi Kimberly! I went to college in Athens, and lived in Lancaster for the last five years. I'm in upstate NY now, but we still get back down that way a couple times a year. I love southern Ohio!

Alee,
I found MaryJaneFarms while googling Tasha Tudor aprons. My daughters and I love her illustrations, books and lifestyle. I have seriously been thinking (dreaming) about trying to make the next farm fair.

Kimberly-

Maybe on your next trip West, you can plan it for Next year's farm fair. Its going to be in Oaksdale Washington (Just a hop, skip and a jump from the Farm itself) and is going to be on the 5th and 6th of July. It would be so fun to see you there!

Hi Kimberly!

Welcome to the forums! How did you find MaryJanesfarm? It sounds like you have a great plan and a wonderful start! Your family sounds really busy too! I just had my first daughter (14 weeks), and though I came from a family of 4, I can't quite imagine having four kids quite yet! :)

Looking forward to getting to know you more!

Thank you all for such a warm welcome!

Angie, Sanibel Island was absolutley amazing! There were so many shells that i had to be vey picky or I would have had to hire a truck to take all of my tresures home. I really enjoyed walking out onto the sand bars and finding huge conch shells. As for time, whoever has enough? I do have a wonderful support system. My husband is my true partner in every sense of the word. We parent and work side by side. I am also blessed to live within two miles of my parents and they are very involved grandparents.

Corinne, We have a pair of ducks, a small flock of chickens(rhode island reds, gold laced and silver laced wyandotts, and araucana), a goat, a collie, pembroke welsh corgi, west highland white terrier, three inside cats, barncats, a hamster, and a pr of parakeets. i hope to add a guiena hen, a shetland pony, and two goats over the summer.

Maryjane Lee, California was amazing! This was my first trip west of Kentucky. After fliying into Medford Oregon,we rented a car and drove the coastline from Oregon to San Franciso. The costal views and redwoods are magical. I am also jealous of the lack of humidity! I hope to return and explore your beautiful state soon.

I love working with little kids too, and my favorite ages to teach ( I substitute at the local elementary school) are the littlest ones...up to third grade.

Welcome to the forum Kimberly! You are in a wonderfull group of gals who share your interests! Oh, I am sooooo jealous, Sanibel Island. Where all the sea-shells are right!!! I would love to spend a few/lot of days down there just walking the beach early in the morning and scooping up the shells!! ROAD TRIP!!! (Yes, that was shouting!) How do you find the time to do all the wonderful things you do? Have you somehow created a day that is more than 24 hours long!!LOL Share the secret!!
