Just thought I'd finally pop in a give a quick intro and such. I'm Lea Ann and I live in Marietta, OK (right between Dallas/Ft Worth and Oklahoma City) We have 10 secluded acres and we are building a house...just me and my husband. That's a whole new topic! We have two daughters (17 y/o and 29 y/o) and two grand daughters (3 mos. and almost 5 y/o)I have a small herd of boer goats, Pyrenees/Anatolian guard dogs, and assorted other cats and dogs. I have just started making goats milk soap and plan to offer it online and maybe some markets. I also do interior design and design and sew girls clothing in my spare time.

I absolutely love everything MaryJane! My friend and I have started a farmgirl chapter but haven't done anything "official" yet. Our first big "outing" will be the War Eagle craft show in the fall. Can't wait.

Looking forward to chatting and getting to know everyone.

Welcome, Lea Ann. I'd love to hear more and see photos of your house building adventures. You too, Autumn. My dh and I have been at it for years now, as well. We do what we have money for at the time. I'd love to see pics. I posted some a while back under the Farm of My Own thread. Did either of you have a formal architectural plan or just 'make it up' on your own?

Hey Lee Ann,

Welcome!!!

I used to have a herd of Nubian and Saanan dairy goats and the Anatolian ...milked twice a day, bottle raised all the kids and made cheese. All I use is unscented goat's milk soap..it's the best!

I sew too! So glad you are here and just email me anytime you need any help. If you have an ideas for sewing swaps or other projects or anything at all just start "a new topic" on the group and we will respond..

It will be nice having another sewing enthusiast and goatlady around

Hi Lea Ann! Welcome from Louisiana!
My husband and I built our house alone. It was the only way we could do it- as we got the money we did the work.
This weekend we are finally getting some trim up outside.
Here's the funny part- we started building in 1986!!! You know how trim is- most of us do-it-yourself- builders don't do it unless the house is going on the market!!!! Not us-we're doin it for US!!
Hope ya get yours sooner than that!!!

WElcome to the group Lea Ann!!
I just know you will love it here!! Wow..building a house yourselves..I am afraid that my very bossy husband and very bossy self would be at each other's throats..haha. I think that is great though. I love doing projects just as a family. THAT is a big one!! It will be fun to hear of your adventures!!
