3 Little Ladies Farm Posted - Sep 04 2007 : 11:43:07 AM
Hello from Camas, WA! I found this wonderful web site after reading an article about Mary Jane while traveling on Horizon Airlines to Montana. We live on 6 1/2 acres with 3 little ladies, 6 chickens, 1 dog, and 1 cat. I have been very busy harvesting and canning. This is our first full year on the farm. I am a little overwhelmed! I look forward to learning and growing with all of you!

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome! I apologize for the delayed response. I've been very busy. My husband purchased a used apple press from a local brewer in Portland so we have been having lots of fun making apple cider. I have canned 3 gallons and froze 3 gallons. My girlfriend came over and we made another 2 gallons of a wonderful Pear/apple blend which was amazing! The pear cuts the bitterness of the apple. My girls love it!I am interested in any words of wisdom for making homemade apple or pear cider? Please send any information. I have been finding a little info in books/internet but not a lot of good old fashion recipes or advise.
Happy Harvest!

I am just north of you. :) In Oly.

What all are you canning?

Right now I am in apple mode... I bet you are too... I froze my last batch of green beans. The season is so late this year I don't have many tomatoes yet, but they are coming. What about yours?

I am new here, but I will add my welcome as well. :) Can't wait to get to know a fellow NW'erner
