Hi, I'm new! I live in Maine in the country, have 3 cats, one dog, cockatiel, and a fish. We have a vegetable and flower garden every year in the summer. I love to spin yarn, crochet, use knitting boards and I just started making pennyrugs with felted wool. I work for the State Department of Education and I plan on retiring next year. I'm 50 but have been lucky enough to get all those year in since high school.

I look forward to chatting with everyone.

Kathy

Hey Kathy! Welcome! So jealous that you're in Maine. I've actually purused houses (and farms) on the market in Gardiner. Some of them are very reasonable, and it's always where I wanted to end up. It's just getting from Kentucky to there, is the thing!

Sounds like you'll fit right in, here. These are special gals that frequent this board. I thank my lucky stars all the time for them.

Hi, Kathy! Boy am I gonna want to talk to you! I'm learning to weave on on a four-shaft floor loom, and my mom has offered me her old spinning wheel, should I decide I want to spin, as well. I've been thinking seriously about it. Do you grow your own fiber or buy it? And, I just saw an article on penny rugs. Let me know how yours turn out -- it's something I may want to learn myself! Feel free to email me. I'll look forward to hearing from you! Oh. Sorry. I was supposed to be welcoming you. Okay. And WELCOME to the forum, from one of the Louisiana farmgirls! You're gonna love it here!

Hi Kathy! MAINE in the country!! I can only imagine how beautiful that is!!
Please come visit often and tell us about all the fun you're having "retired"....someone should really come up with a new word for that. When you think about it...RE means to do again...so does that mean you are "tired" again? As long as it's the "good tired".:-)
Enjoy yourself here!

Hi Kathy -- I started a penny rug (for a tabletop) years ago from a Better Homes & Gardens book -- with synthetic felt, glue, and lots of blanket stitches. Needless to say, it isn't authentic! And I still need to finish it (and I should -- the colors are strong and it makes a good impression, if you don't know about the Elmers). Doing penny rugs with felted wool sounds much better. Looking forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome to the forum Kathy! I just love Maine, it's one of my very favorite states to visit! I'm sure you'll feel right at home here, lots of gardeners to chat with.

My cousin Michele, (Windy Pines Farmgirl) spins her own wool and makes hot pads with felted wool. I'm sure she and lots of other farmgirls here can give you all kinds of ideas for your projects.

Hello Kathy,
If you love to do all that then you might enjoy checking out a few of my sites, the Heavenly Angels In Need being the first one. We would love to have you join us as well. We have volunteers in your area and we work with babies and children in crisis situations. Your talents would be highly desired. Most f our volunteers are around your age including myself.
Hope to get to know you and enjoy your comapny on both forums!!!
Big old hugs,
Pauline
