What a wonderful online community here! I am so glad I found y'all.

My name is Deborah and I live in Beaverton with DH (techie, urban guy), boy baby - 7 years, girl baby - 5 years, and 3 silly cats. I'm an artist and mom, crazy composter, great gardener, but not very successful vegetable grower- YET! I am turning my front flower bed along the driveway into veggies, squash this year, next year, tomatoes and peppers because my back yard is just too shady. I have an amazing recipe for chili sauce that my great-grandmother "Mama" taught to my mom. I am sure I can get a canning lesson from someone here, of course.javascript:insertsmilie('')

My dream is to have 2-5 acres with lots of flowers, chickens, a few sheep or goats. DH just doesn't get my desire for chickens, but he is wonderfully supportive anyway. I would love to hear from other Oregon farmgirls, especially in the Portland westside area.

Blessings! Deborah

Thank you all so much. I have only lived in Oregon for 2 years now, but I have been to McMinnville. It is a beautiful little town. I am so glad we got a break in the rain this week. I planted 4 lavender plants after dinner, chatted with my neighbor and let the kids run around like little maniacs for an hour. What a great day!

Blessings, Deborah

Welcome, Deborah!

Amazingly enough, I think I have been to Beaverton! Is it near Tillamook? If so it is BEAUTIFUL there! Even if it is not where I am thinking of, I am sure it is still pretty. :-)

It sounds like you are lucky enough to have some Farmgirls in your area. Please come back and chat soon, I am sure you will have plenty of tips to share with us, too!

Friends,
Toni
