But someday I will be a farmgirl again. My name is Kristin and I grew up on a farm in NW Iowa. I now live in a semi rural town with my dh and 3 kids. I am a sahm mostly with a pt job delivering papers for some extra money. I love cooking, reading, making crafts, decorating my 115 year old house and spending time with my family.
I got my MaryJanesFarm book on Saturday and I haven't been able to put it down. Beautiful book!!

Welcome from another Iowa girl. I grew up on a farm near Iowa City, Ia and now live in a suburb of Cedar Rapids. I know the term city girl and farm girl. I was a farm girl growing up and attended a rural parochial school 1-8 grades and then went on the bus for high school to a small town. The students definitely knew if you were a country girl or town girl. Farm kids alway were given a little teasing but I wouldn't have traded it for anything. I have recently tried to buy the farmstead of my parents farm but boy has the price for Iowa farmland gone up. Anyway welcome. I work for Kirkwood in the high school completion area. |

We kind of did that, ours are 23,21 and 14. OUr youngest is our 'Guess what,Honey?" baby. We had tried for along time to get pregnant with no luck. We moved to Alaska and 2 weeks later I was pregnant. Must have been the cold.

Welcome Kristin from the Oregon coast! What are the ages of you kids?
My sister got me a one stroke "kit" to try after I had had surgery. Didn't touch it then, but when I tried later, well, it is not my gift.

Welcome to the farmgirl forum. I know you'll find lots of creative ideas to spark your talent with crafts. And there will be lots of friendships that you will always treasure. I, too, like your term "town girl," it means exactly what it says. I also enjoy stamping and making cards and gifts. What kinds of cards do best in the shop where you sell them? I've thought about doing that, but don't really know anyone with a shop to get started. It's a fun project/craft to do, isn't it?

Welcome Kristin. Lucky you to be a town girl in Iowa. By the way, my cousins (who lived in Iowa on a farm) used to use that term instead of saying city girl. It think it is a neat way to put it and it tells you that there aren't many cities in Iowa, but lots of towns. And even town girls can be farmgirls. Glad to have you here.

Welcome Kristin! How lucky you are to live in Iowa and especially in a 115 year old home! I do sew but am horrible at One Stroke painting. Took one class and decided painting was not something I wanted to do!
Glad you're here and can't wait to get to know you better.
The only time that housework comes before sewing is in the dictionary!

I do a bad attempt at One Stroke painting, rubber stamp(I sell cards in my friend's craft shop), stencil, do floral arrangements, put together gift baskets, and other things. One thing I don't do is sew . |
