Hi Ladies, my name is Jennifer...but my friends call me Jennie  I'm married to my childhood sweetheart and we have one daughter who is three and a half. I'm a stay at home mama, considering homeschooling in a couple of years. I'm a native Mainer, grew up helping my dad with our big garden, couple of beef critters, and one mean rooster. Now I'm working on turning my own piece of land into something worthwhile. I'm an organic gardener and I learn more every year. We are getting a dozen chicks in the spring for fresh, free range eggs. I would love to have a milking goat...ahhh...maybe next year! I recently started making my own cleaners, laundry soap, skin balm, tooth powder, and such and I can't believe how much better they work. My husband thinks I'm a little crazy with all of my concoctions, but he's getting used to them, lol!  Baking is one of my great loves, and I am dabbling with cheesemaking. I like to sew, knit, and crochet...I just need a few more hours in the day! I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you interesting farmgirls...........All the best..............Jennie............... |

Welcome Jennie! You sound like a very busy farm girl. Glad you could join us. Cheesemaking? Now that sounds like it would be not so easy. Love to hear how its done.

Welcome Jennie! I'm in Maine too, actually moving from Old Town to Dover Foxcroft tomorrow morning :) I am very excited, we're moving to a big farmhouse and I am going to get chickens this spring too!! Sounds like you have a lot going on down there, glad you found MJF! There are so many great people here...Welcome!!!

Welcome Jennifer! It surely sounds like you have a very busy life there. I've always wanted to go to Maine, especially in the fall. I hope to get to know you better.

I have dreams about a milking goat someday as well... and making goatsmilk soap. :-)

Hello Jennie,
I am also a former Maineiac....We lived in Bangor for about 5-years while my dad was stationed at Dow Air Force Base. My baby sister Merri was born there. I Loved every minute of it especially weekend trips to Bar Harbor! Welcome to the forum! |

Hi Jennie, welcome from Waldo County. I too am a native Mainer.
we had a vegetable garden growing up, but since it was in Searsport the sun didn't get there until late in the day. Rhubarb was the best crop. You are going to love this forum.

So glad you found us here at MaryJanes. We have so much fun!Sounds like you were born to be a farmgirl.;) I have a three and a half yr old girl too, so I know what you mean about those few more hours in a day..hehe. I also have a 2 yr old boy. Cheesemaking sounds like a blast, but I don't know if I'm ready for that yet..lol. I am a farmgirl at heart, dreaming of my own real farm someday. We are planning to homeschool too. Of course, we've got a couple of years to figure out everything fun with that. I was homeschooled when I was younger, so that helps a little bit in the planning. Sewing, knitting (I cant do) and crochet. YEP!! You are definitly in the right place!!
