hi everyone!!!

my name is shelley crook, i live in Ellijay GA and have all of my life. i grew up working on a farm, and am trying to pass that lifestyle down to my 12 year old son and 9 year old daughter. so far they seem to love it as much as i do. we have dogs, cats, chickens, hogs, and goats right now and are hoping to add a few head of cattle by next fall! my hobbies are sewing, baking, and gardening. since i'm new at this i hope i'm writing everything right. i found mary janes magazine at our local tractor supply company and immediately fell in love with it, i hope to talk to as many farmgirls as i can. i have to admit theres not many folks to chat with about the farm life anymore (boy are they missing out) so i am really excited about this forum. okay i'll hush now and read some more maybe i'll learn how to get into the other chats! thanks so much for reading!!

peace and love,

shelley

Hi Everyone. I'm also new to Mary Janes Farm and also from Georgia. I'm from augusta. Right now I'm still in the dream/planning stage of getting a farm. I'm taking little baby steps, but will get there one day. I'm so excited to find a whole new world of like minded people. It is hard to find someone to talk with about growing your own food and when you mention organic, you might as well be from mars. I'm glad I have someone to talk to. I've so much to learn and new people to meet. Sandra

wow! what a welcome! thanks to you all! now i really cant wait to get talking. oh yes, in response to the goats, we have boers, my children show them for 4-H and FFA as well as the hogs. i would love to have a good nanny to milk, but i have to admit i've never milked a goat only cows so im a little nervous about that. i would love to learn how though and learn to make cheese and other items. thanks to you all again for sending me a hello so quickly, it has really made my day. please do let me know missdana when you are in the area, well any of girls, i would love to show you our little town.

love and peace,

shelley

Hey Shelly. Welcome from another Ga. girl. I am just outside Chatt. Tn. in Walker Co. We go to Elijay a few times a year. I am so glad to see another Ga. girl join the forum!

You'll have to tell us what kind of goats you have. That's my favorite thing to talk about. I have Lamanchas and a Nubian that I milk. Right now we're waiting on kids. I am so ready to milk again. I could go on and on about goats.

See ya, Kris

Hi, Shelly!

Sounds like you have a wonderful group of animals on your place. Hard work but probably lots of fun, too.

hey Shelly!
Welcome to MJF! There are a number of us Georgia gals here. You are in my favorite part of the state! My husband and I go to a cabin in Cherry Log several times a year. We would love to retire up there! Next time I'm up in the area I'll let you know. My favorite place to eat is Canterberry Cafe in Elijay.
I am a knitter, weaver, spinner, baker, anything handworker! There are groups here online for anything that interests you. And the farmgirls are THE BEST!
Enjoy!
Dana
