Posted - Feb 23 2009 : 2:04:54 PM Hello all...I'm new, again, and am glad to be back. Life intervened but I'm caught up on order my MJ books, autographed of course -smile-, renewing my magazine subscription and am wandering around the forums. I believe I'll start slow, with a new introduction. I'm Sandra, live at Thistle Cove Farm in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains of southwest VA and raise rare breed horses and sheep. The wool from the sheep and, sometimes, the fiber from the American Curly horses are blended and then hand spun into yarn to be hand knitted, woven or felted into useful and beautiful items. Thistle Cove Farm is home of the 14th Annual Sheep Shearing Day, coming up in April. The MJF Simply Bee issue is sitting on my desk and I'm excited that honey and other bees are the highlight. Daddy has kept bees for more than 70 years and in the last few decades, I've been his helper. The Einstein quote is especially nice and Oh How True! It's good to be back.

Posted - Feb 26 2009 : 04:29:41 AM Good Morning Cindy - thanks for the welcome and for visiting the blog. We do have big sky country here in the Cove. Also in Tazewell County is Burke's Garden, known as God's Thumbprint. From the sky, it looks like a huge thumbprint and the same road leading across the mountain and around the valley, leads right back out again.

Posted - Feb 25 2009 : 11:28:40 PM Hello Sandra. I love your blog. Such great story and the pictures are beautiful. Jeannie was right though, it does look like out west even though you are back east. Thank you for sharing. Cindy

Posted - Feb 24 2009 : 7:02:19 PM Hi Misty, thanks for the welcome and welcome yourself! We'll be new together -smile-. There's so much to see/read/write here, I feel a bit overwhelmed. Thank goodness they have the 'clips' on the front page; it gives me a starting place.

Posted - Feb 24 2009 : 4:22:24 PM Hi Jeannie and thanks for the welcome. We're in southwest VA and on our road there are three inhabited houses. There are two others but people only live there "sometimes". It's a beautiful part of the world and we're very isolated yet still within an hour of Bluefield, VA/WV. We're blessed to live here. Josiah's quilt is lovely; he'll be covered in warmth, love and prayers. As to your White sewing machine; it's made of sturdy stuff. Use it and make wonderful things with great love!

Posted - Feb 24 2009 : 2:20:09 PM Hi Penny, thanks and gardening is great therapy when there's no six inches of snow on the ground -smile-. Now my therapy is tending to the animals and working in the studio.
Hi Maryjane Lee - thanks for the welcome and love the photo of you and hubby fly fishing; I love to fish! And, I AM SO ENVIOUS!!!! Ahem. cough. cough. I think I've calmed down now. I SO want a tear drop camper or even a mini-bump which is my term for those little bump pull-alongs. I haven't a clue what they are called but love, love, love camping. Unfortunately, Dave's idea of camping is slow room service. And, Sisters on the Fly!!!! What FUN is that, pray tell?!!! I'm on that site now and wanna, wanna, wanna come along. OH, OH, OH...now I'm on your shopping pages...this could be BIG trouble! I've been begging, hinting, pleading, haven't resorted to crying yet for some time now...I think this is kismet! Are Sisters on the Fly part of MJF? sigh. I'm having heart flutters!

Posted - Feb 24 2009 : 06:09:52 AM Good Morning Kris - you are so kind to visit my blog - thank you! Thank you also for your kind welcome. We've got an aging household and even now, Miss Kitty rests on my lap. She has cancer, already had one operation but now is living her end days as the cancer has spread. I'll have to blog about her soon, before she passes. If you're able, please do come to Sheep Shearing Day; it's a great day on the farm, especially when things go well -smile-.
Good Morning Chelsey - thank you for your kind welcome and I've enjoyed my visits to your blogs. It's funny how one's mind works...when I saw "miniature world", immediately I thought of animals -smile-; what a pleasant surprise to find I was wrong. That Better Homes & Gardens Cookbook is wonderful; I've used mine a lot.

Posted - Feb 23 2009 : 5:52:34 PM Welcome again, Sandra. I just spent the last half hour on your blog. It's just beautiful. The pictures and all the animals. I loved the story of your boys, Thomas and Zacheous. That was so sweet. What great friends they must be. It just really touched my heart. That is so true of how we each should be. Just there for each other. That's all.
I would love to see all the sheep on sheep shearing day. I bet that is awesome to see. Have fun and I can't wait to see more on your blog!
Kris
