Posted - Feb 26 2009 : 11:59:05 AM I am so excited to be a member of this forum. I received my first MaryJanesFarm Magazine about 2 weeks ago - and subscribed the next day! I retired from a job of 30+ years in June of 2008, this magazine is "right up my alley". I was born and raised in a small community with a strong rural presence. Although I never lived on a farm, many of my extended family made a living from farming, and I am no stranger to farm life. This magazine was "tailor made for me", I have read and reread the pages and find something I missed each time. I am a mother to 3 (2 boys and 1 girl), and proud grandma to 7. My oldest son and his wife, and my other son's wife all teach in our middle school. My other son is a zoning administrator for our county. My daughter is presently a stay at home mom. My hubby is disabled, so I assist him with his daily care. My interests are many and I look forward to sharing with many of you in the coming days and weeks. Thanks for having me as a member - Gail in Minnesota.

Posted - Feb 28 2009 : 08:46:51 AM Hi, Gail!
I have strong ties to Hutchinson!
My grandmother's family had a farm outside of "Hutch", so that would have been in the late 1800s.
I had a great aunt and uncle who lived in Hutch, on Miller Ave., I believe. I visited them three or more times back in the 1970s and 1980s. They've both long since passed, but I have a real fondness for that part of Minnesota.
