I am merry from Iowa and just wanted to say I am glad to be here.

Every summer in Iowa, they have a 500 mile bikeride called RAGBRAI (Registers Great Bike Ride Across Iowa). My husband and I rode it in 2001. That is when we fell in love with Iowa. We had moved to Iowa in Feb of 2000, well, coming from Southern California, we thought it was not very attractive. But after riding the rural highways and backroads, we fell in love. Welcome Merry! I used to live in Swisher, IA (halfway between Iowa City and Cedar Rapids...in fact my family was just here this week visiting from there. Good to have you join us...you'll love it here!

I have to say that from your initial post, you sound kinda like my mom...she is Mary from Iowa and likes to quilt, can, and garden. Too bad you don't live farther east or you two could be friends!
