Posted - Apr 19 2009 : 12:53:32 PM hi everyone. i've missed women like me. farmgirls who can do almost everything. i'm married to a wonderful man (we just celebrated our 1st anniversary) whose favorite ride is his harley. i enjoy riding with him but miss the horses i had long ago. we have 7 children (all grown) and his 7 grandchildren. together we own about 40 acres--mostly rocks near the buffalo river. dogs and cats are the only domestic critters so far. i love to garden--its amazing what grows here. i grew up on a cattle farm in this same county. love this life. was so lonely for others like me til i found the maryjane magazine and this forum. i hope i can be a good part of the group here. |

Posted - Apr 26 2009 : 07:35:28 AM Welcome Freda! I'm the gal from Horseshoe Bend that Julie mentioned. So glad you found us! You will love this site and maybe someday all us Arkansan's can get together! Your place sounds wonderful. I had a small farm in Iowa but now live in town here and it's hard getting used to after living in the country...I may have to go back....once a country gal ALWAYS a country gal. You live in a beautiful area and the Buffalo is a national treasure! Hope we hear more from you and all about your farming adventures!

Posted - Apr 20 2009 : 7:27:49 PM thanks for the welcome. i appreciate each one. my family is staying busy--we have our own business, are trying to fix up our newest property (an older home with 20 acres) to move into. my 96 yr old father in law lives with us and this house has a handicapped bedroom and bath. i have started a garden there and want to transplant some of my flowers this fall. the chicken house was crushed when a huge tree fell due to the ice we had in late jan. i didn't have chickens yet but was excited about getting some soon. now i will have to wait til we can find time to rebuild. any way, again thanks. hope all are doing well. went out on the bike today for a great ride after work--spring in the ozarks is marvelous. |
