Posted - Apr 28 2009 : 07:47:19 AM Hello from Illinois! I have been browsing the forums here for quite awhile...this is an awesome place!
I am a SAHM to 5 in East Central IL.My husband and I own a 16.5 acre hobby farm that we purchased a year ago. We absolutely love it! We currently have 10 chickens, 2 barn cats and will be adding a couple of goats later this spring. This year will be our first year with a full fledged garden, and I am learning as I go.
I am looking forward to sharing and learning with all the farmgirls here!

Posted - May 03 2009 : 1:07:13 PM Lynn - I am from Springfield. I am definitely a flatlander.
I visited your historic website and it is really interesting. The house I was raised in was only a few blocks from the Edwards home that Lincoln frequented, which was then on the dge of town, and my house was in the country then. Originally it was a log cabin, then built into a white wooden house. The chimney of that house was ancient.
I will check back to your blog and read more of the history you are uncovering near Staunton. Good job!

Posted - Apr 28 2009 : 7:58:45 PM Hey Cindy and welcome. I know where there are some of the cutest goat babies ever. My place! We just got done having 13 kids, so I have goats. I'd even meet you halfway! Just a thought.
I'm glad to know another farmgirl that likes the goats. Have you been to the Barnyard Buddies yet?

Posted - Apr 28 2009 : 09:12:30 AM Welcome Cindy! Sounds like you found the ideal place out in the country....and its so nice to raise your children out in the country, too. I'm getting goats later this spring too, mainly for milking. Good luck in your gardening - there's nothing like fresh picked veggies. Ask lots of question, we enjoy helping each other.
