Posted - Apr 29 2009 : 11:02:23 AM When I was young I lived on a ranch or with relatives who had farms or huge, huge gardens. I always admired how busy and content they were, and I remember sitting on the front porch of my great grandmother's house while she was embroidering napkins or writing letters.
I love gardening, but being in a city now, I make do with a container garden. It's basically a salsa garden with an herb pot thrown in.
I'm so happy to find the farmgirls because I appreciate that hard work and beauty and contentment frequently come hand-in-hand.

Posted - Apr 30 2009 : 04:17:25 AM Hi Pam, Welcome, Welcome!! You are among friends here and it does not matter where you call home!! I live in the Great North Woods of New Hampshire . . . way up at the top of the state! We have 50 acres, 6 of it is an open field being turned into my "large garden"
Our home is a dream come true, and like you, I have container gardened for many, many years. Amazing how much you can produce in such a small area
Looking forward to reading your posts and getting you know you!! Joanna, Farm Girl #566 JojoNH

Posted - Apr 29 2009 : 10:32:56 PM Hello Pam,
Glad to meet another Tennessee lady! I'm over in east TN near Gatlinburg. My dad is from Nashville and my mom is from Crossville. I've lived in several areas around Nashville.
Drop by my blog anytime...would love to hear from another lady in my neck of the woods. I have a few other Tennessee ladies that I've met in blogland.
Do you sew? crochet? I know whatever you do you'll find ladies with common interests around hers.
Have fun, Stephanie

Posted - Apr 29 2009 : 2:41:55 PM Hey Pam, good to have you!!! I'm new here myself. I'm over in Englewood near Athens. Our "farm" is about a 1/4 acre. LOL. Still getting settled in and getting the garden started, probably fairly small this year then expand. Good for you for having a garden no matter how small. blessings Phyllis |
