Hello Everyone! I've always wanted to live on a farm since I was a little girl growing up in the suburbs. Then last August my husband and kids and I moved into a new home on 12 acres of hay land. We've been reading everything we can get our hands on for over a year, including MJFarm Magazine and her Idea Book. This spring things have really taken off, we now have 25 hen chicks that should start laying in July, 7 lambs with 4 more to come in July and a guard llama, not to mention a family dog and some cats. I have 2 sons, ages 7 and 3.5 and a baby due in late October (fingers crossed for a girl, but three boys would be a kick too). My husband recently finished tilling my massive garden plot and building me a green house from the fall issue of the MJF magazine. We live close to the highway and have been getting to know our wonderful neighbors in our new small home town and they all drive by and honk or stop us in town and tell us how amazed they've been to see us just take off. I have to admit I waffle between not having everything the way I want it fast enough and being overwhelmed from taking on so much so fast. So far though we are enjoying every minute of our new life. It has really been a dream come true. I joined so I could get some great ideas, share our journey if its a use to anyone else, and to just have fun connecting to farmgirls all over who understand my joys and "learning experiences" as I like to call them . I hope everyone is having a wonderful spring!

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! Somedays my excitement is just overflowing and I don't think my family can take it all, its nice to have some farmgirl sisters to talk to and share with! And Karin, Kamiak Butte is amazing, we have a beautiful view of it from our place and I oriented my sitting area in my bedroom with a nice view of it too. I've had fun getting to watch the Butte's weather patterns and changes through the seasons. Thanks for the welcome again!

Welcome, it's always good to have another Washington farmgirl. Just remember, it's better to take things one step at a time than to get too much going on too fast and fall into overwhelm. Congratulations on attaining your dream.

Hey (Hay) neighbor! What a great introduction. You sooo belong here! Congratulations on all of it, the farm, the family, the neighbors, finding MJ, and getting so much done so fast. Wow. Maybe you should share some of your tips with us. :)
