I just wanted to drop in and say hello! I have 4 chickens here in downtown Atlanta, and my husband and I have had beehives. Hopefully we will have another hive next spring. I knit, sew, quilt, crochet, make tofu, bake bread and love learning. I have always lived in cities, but my Dad grew up on a farm, and the stories from his childhood have always inspired me to learn ways to incorporate self sufficiency into an urban lifestyle. I have had chickens for years, that is why they call me the chickengoddess. I'm glad I found this forum, and I look forward to spending many happy hours here. Thanks to Mary Jane as well, I wish I had found her magazine years ago!

Bok on!

Welcome Alma! I also live in downtown Atlanta. We used to have four chickens, but we are now down to two. One hen and one rooster who is quite the character!

You will surely have fun around here!

Alma I looked at your bok site and saw in one of your pictures the chicken coop. What is it called and how do you like it?

Hi Alma! So nice to see a chicken lover. My son and I love chickies too, however, we are no longer allowed to have them in our little burg.:(

I am looking forward to reading your posts on your blog. Very nice.

Hi Alma,
Welcome! I love that you have bees and chickens in the City, proving that we farmgirls can "plow thru" no matter where we are logistically. I too have chickens. Buff Orpingtons, and I love them. I noticed that you are a bread maker so please make sure to check out the thread we have going on Breadthemaryjaneway, you will love it no doubt and the seamstress in you will love that MaryJane is coming out with some fabric in June ( with Andover).. Anyway, a HUGE farmgirl welcome to you... OH hey, makes sure to catch our City Farmgirl's blog... She is a Georgian too. Here is her blog http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/MJFBlog/
